My Chemical Romance – Hang 'Em High Lyrics 19 years ago
just a few question...are there any hardcore fans here? like...anyone stalker-level fans that know the concept of the concept album? where do they stand with God? They seem either strict believers or strict mockers/"blasphemers" of believing...anyone? This song could come from the perspective of Christ, though I kinda doubt it was written to be like that...itd be cool though...
"shotgun sinners"
"grace of God"
"angel cut out her tongue"
just wondering, I really like this song and it got me even more interested when I started looking past the amazing guitar and vocal accompaniment. 0:)

red and yellow are commonly used to referring to people of Indian and Asian decent...just like black is to African American (not literally black, more like brown), and white for Caucasians (more like peach, pale even rarely gets pure white...offwhite at most). Vomit away...just because you dont dig for facts in the persona of Christ doesnt mean that scholars and philosophers and even the average joe doesnt or wont

wait a tic...is it ABOUT their grandmother, or was it JUST a dedication to her? Couldnt it just be a dedication but about stuff like...the suicide pact mentioned page 3 of comments? This song doesnt seem to make sense...what would someone be \"carrying on\" about if they were 10 feet under OR cremated??? What would a dead person \"take from every heart [they] break\"??? Without lines like that, I guess you could say that he never wanted to live w/o her, but its better if he does. ??

haha...nice :)

I really dont think there is anything to get offended about in regards to opinions intended for the song, but when people lose their purpose in the discussion, some people have turned to Bible/Christian/religion bashing, and someone could get offended by that, I guess...I personally can take it, and laugh a little 0:)

Well...geez! Where to start? :/

I use "ignorant" freely...realize that I don’t mean 'stupidity', but 'lack of knowledge, not informed'. Sorry about that.

I think we've established a few things, so we can throw a few out:

1)The song is about Maynard's mother, Judith. Not a friend, not Judas, but it obviously involves, extremely deeply...the story of Christ. Yes, everyone has been correct in saying that THIS lyrics site doesn’t capitalize Christ or God, and it DOES indeed say "your" before both titles, but we cant forget the line "Talk to Jesus Christ as if He knows the reasons why"...showing that he is indeed talking about Jesus Christ - the man that no one has ever successfully denied the evidence that existed, which some choose to follow more evidence that he was God incarnate- that we, as Christians, try to do our best to impersonate and please. (Note: not APPEASE...that’s not possible to appease God) The question is whether each of us as individuals, and the co-writer/singer of the song, believes in Christ, the man proven archeologically and historically to have existed a little less than 2000 years ago, and whether or not he is God. (Feel free to ask questions, Ill be back to check replies and future posts.) To all Christian-bashers that have ever or ever will leave a comment on this song...Believing and following Christ isn’t as unfathomable or unreasonable as you’ve made it out to be, in your lives or in your words. ;) It’s very reasonable, very wise, and very possible. Faith is a much smaller leap than what most think, and cold hard fact actually points in that direction...we'll talk that another time, another place :)

2)Maynard wont be praying or going to church or finding the truth out anytime soon. The song was written in ignorance, but from a perspective everyone should relate to at some point in their lives...not so far as to say that we should get offensive, but to question. Maynard just questioned and came out with an incorrect and ill found response according to some. I personally think that Maynard/whoever used YOUR to emphasize that he doesn’t even believe enough to give his mom the gratitude to say it as a name...implying it exists. YOUR god and YOUR christ implies something entirely personal and unreal outside her.

3)The music is great, his voice is perfectly accompanied, and if it wasn’t for the debatable and ignorance that I perceive in the lyrics...the fact that it sounds like something I’ve thought/said in the past...is something Id like to keep there. It could’ve been a favorite if the anger would have been directed towards something more reasonable...like ignorance, itself. :D

Thanks for reading, all the 10 pages of comments so far really explained a lot!!! Sorry for the book :/

This song...wow, I really cant get that out in words without repeating the lyrics...

whoever suggested the suicide pact thing REALLY makes sense, and it can also still be considered a dedication, couldnt it? And the singer would still be able to relate emotionally to get the feeling into the singing. I dont know for sure, of course, but for it just being about his gma, how do we explain the lyrics like "Whats the worst that I could say?
Things are better if I stay" If they were to his gma...where would he go? Commit suicide in hopes of being with her? that doesnt make sense to me... same with "if you carry on this way"...if shes dead, she wouldnt be "carrying on". :/

Regardless...its definitely a smash hit, with the whole record in tow...this is my first song and cd Ive known from MCR, does anyone have any suggestions on what to buy next, and what to expect? Any hopes of anything better than Helena and Three Cheers?
