At this point in the film Pink has put so many bricks into his wall of isolation, he has completed it and has effectivly alienated himself from everyone else. The phrase writing on the wall was first used in the bible and means foreseeing the future, meaning that Pink knows how screwed over he is but doesn't try to help himself, or can't helf himself. |

This song makes much more sense after seeing the film The Wall. It is about propaganda, and how people only look at the surface of people to generate impressions, and do not "claw [their] way through this disguise." In the film, the main character Pink has become a facist and has deceived all thoes attending his concert. |
