I agree with Mckillu here. "Hand Of Blood" on the Deluxe Edition reinforces that story. But I wonder, why did they place it (Hand Of Blood) before and not after "Room 409"? That would have made a lot more sense that way. |

First post!!!
All right, what is this song doing on the album? Not that I don't like it, it doesn't fit in with the rest... Or is it the meaning that counts? The lyrics fit, the song doesn't. But no offense to those who like this song... |

How could this have happened to Mike's parents? This song was actually in WWII, like in the 40's, and Mike isn't that old now, is he?
Anyway, this song is an eye-opener. While many history books portray the Japanese as for lack of a better word, "evil", they never actually bother to tell of what the Americans did to the Japanese.
Why don't many people post on Fort Minor's songs? Not many have heard of him yet? I suppose the LP hype hasn't caught on yet... But we'll wait and see. |

| Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics

The first time I heard about this song (it was on a radio countdown but wasn't played), I expected it to be another screaming political song criticizing the U.S. government, blaming them for the 9/11 bombings. However, when I actually heard the song, I found that it was not that kind of political song, but much more. I have four possible interpretations of this song:
On one level, this song is about Billie Joe's father, as he himself admitted. Also, as it is part of a "punk rock opera", it is part of the sad tale of St. Jimmy/JOS and Whatsername/Rebel. The third meaning of this song is in the video, which presumably you've all seen. It cannot really be found in the lyrics, but in the theme of the song itself. However, I have a fourth meaning: This song is also, to some extent, a tribute to the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, especially the children whose fathers perished in the said terrorist attacks. In a way, Billie Joe probably sympathizes with the poor, orphaned kids because he knows the feeling of losing a parent.
The song is so meaningful in that way... That's why I love it. Second favorite track to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and moving up fast.
Question: Was it deliberate that this song is Track 11 of the album? Because if it is, then the most suitable interpretation would be the one about the attacks, even if Billie Joe says otherwise. |

Green Day is amazing. American Idiot was catchy but never one of my favorites. However Boulevard of Broken Dreams was stuck in my head for 7 months from the time I first heard it. I couldn't stop singing it! I belted out Holiday at the top of my lungs everyday after I first heard it, and now this song has become my ringtone. In short, I've had not just many Green Days, but perhaps a Green Year. |

Ok, I will break my silence. "Pieces of Me" was okay, and also "Shadow", but this song, if Mr. Lemony Snicket does not mind me borrowing a phrase from his "A Series of Unfortunate Events", sounds like a man beating up a cat.
I couldn't take it. No offense, but I HATE this song!!! |

Hey, I like Simple Plan, they're good to listen to everytime you're down in the dumps. And I like all three bands featured in Fake Plastic Arse's list. But then again, everyone is entitled to his own opinion. Some would see the bad side and be turned off, some would see potential and give these bands a chance. If you don't like this song, maybe you can try their "Untitled" track off their latest album. Better yet, look around all the Simple Plan lyrics page and you will find deep lyrics.
If you are still unhappy, I can do nothing about it. |

Correction in the lyrics... It's supposed to be "We are the lost, the ones forgotten" and not "We are the ones, the ones forgotten". I know because I have the CD.
Anyway, I think this is a song about things in the past like decisions made and words said that have come back to haunt someone even if they have long been forgotten.
This is one of my favorites from the new album. I often find myself popping in the CD and changing to track 10 when I have nothing to do. |

| The Black Eyed Peas – The APL Song Lyrics
| 21 years ago

This song is actually a sampling of an old Asin song. Asin was an old Filipino band that used to write meaningful songs. I don't know them much, but my parents do. Anyway, I was surprised to find out that this was a Black Eyed Peas song because then I didn't know that apl.de.ap was Filipino. But this is a great song, my favorite on the Elephunk CD, and yes, it is heartening to know that even as he makes it big abroad, apl.de.ap is proud of his country. This is really his song.
What does apl stand for? Anybody know the answer? |
