| Wow Sempre your thoughts of the song sound pretty exact. Astepclosert24 yours is too. I love how U2 songs make their songs sound so great and have what seems like hidden messages. I'm from New Zealand and their coming next year in March and last night my brother lined up for 2 and a half hours to get a ticket but they'd sold out already (Their first concert sold out in 15 mins so they decided to have a second) BUT sooooo many people have missed out because of fucking scalpers went earlier than anyone else and purchased ridiculous amounts of tickets like, 60 tix so they can go online and sell them for thousands. It's disgusting. My aunty is a massive fan and she has every record and album but she couldn't get a ticket because of them, she cried. My Dad has loved them since forever and he couldn't get one either. It's disgusting. | |

I love this song SO much. It's my favourite Maximo Park song, and their my favourite band:) I love the line "Oh you are just another thing I've yet to fathom" Because fathom is such an expressive word in this case. By the way it isn't "and closed the postcard on a guillotine." It's "And closed the postcard of the painting" Hence the name of the song. I also know the lyrics of by heart. Teehehee. LOL. Anyway I think it's about him being in a relationship that isn't working out because she won't open up to him and she seems somehwhat embarassed. Basically, it's going downhill. Heck I dunno! Just a guess:D When I went on school camp I played this on repeat on my walkman coz we drove EVERYWHERE on the bus. To camp Tawera near Mount Ruapahu. (I'm a Kiwi-lives in New Zealand...) It's obviously about Bush. Like when it says "Just like his Dad, just like his Dad (the same mistakes)" Is meaning he's just like his dad when he was the presidant. "Hungry and dumb, hungry and dumb (so wait in line)" Hehehe that's my favourite line. Good song, good band! |
