Yes, it is about Perfume...the book is out of print and really hard to find. i read another book by Patrick Suskin called Mr. Summers Story.....the author was very isolated and distant which is probably why Kurt connected with his writing. This is one of the best song for drums by Grohl...i love the sound of his drums for In Utero |

| Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics

I think the machine is a metaphor to the music business Roger Waters had to endure. at the end of the song the elevator goes up and the you hear all the people talking, drinking etc. Then it goes into have a cigar which is obviously about the record label owner telling "Pink" (haha, which ones Pink?) that he (ahem) really loves the band and that they're making a lot of money... |

I read Animal Farm by George Orwell, (a book about the Communist Revolution In Russia i believe) and the dogs were the greedy tools of the pigs that were used by the pigs to keep the rest of the animals in line...they would claw there we to the top only to be "ground down in the end." (PS If you didnt know already, Floyd based this album on that book) |

Has anyone watched this with the last segment of 2001 Space Odyssey! Awesome synch...this is probably my favourite Floyd song, it has everything....its beautiful, i get a buzz just listening to it. Remember that the whole universe is one, "I am you and what I see is me." Everytime you hurt something you hurt yourself...A lot of references to Buddhism |

When you become schizophrenic or manic you start to see beauty in everything. This happened to John Lennon, Hendrix and even Roger Waters....I recall a time when I was doing a lot of acid I began to hear voices when the acid would change into a downward spiral of despair....I used to sit in my basement and build things out of whatever was around...to me it was art, but insanity was definitely part of it. I think this song symbolizes the closing of the wall, and the point where he is completely mad....also a symptom of schizo or manic, which is something I always experienced, is that you constantly feel dirty, especially where your hair is which is maybe why he shaved his chest and eyebrows in the movie. (Roger Waters wanted him to shave his head and Bob responded "no fucking way!" |

I think this song is simply about overcoming fear. Stepping out from the norm and facing the crowd and fearlessly finding your own path. (Im not to good with words at describing things, just listen....the music says it all) |
