Cut my comment once again: IMO this song is about a relationship, where one sied is hiding something about their past, possibly a story about an ex he can't quite get over with (miami being the place where he used to live and date this girl). He's trying to get over his past but he can't (can't find his way around miami). The line about the the terror of the wedding bells makes imagine all this as happening right before a wedding. They're trying to get all the details about their past settled right before tying the knot. And I suppose they do since he manages to convince her that what's done is done (Whoever i was then i will never be again, the comfort that there's noone else). Although the story about relationships is terribly cheesy, it's can be looked at more generally as quite good lyrics about starting again. |

hmmmm..... I think the ending lines from these lyrics (Don't act like you're the first one, etc.) didnt make the final cut cause they're not on the version from that mtv2 leak thing, it just ends after the second chorus. What version are these lyrics from? Yeah this song is definetely about people who disappointed us once and got a chance just to disappoint us again. One opens their arms and provides a safe place metaphorically (Are you coming home?) but instead one gets lied to. Hence all the anger and rage in this song. Awesome. |

Perhaps it is just pure randomness. Wait no it is not purely random, you can see how they're trying to create the tropical imagery mixing in some morbidness, insanity and really fucking disgusting stuff. Perhaps we shouldn't be trying to decipher this word by word, it's more about looking at it as a whole, it's hateful, despises society, wants to burn the shit down. Take all the images in the song, all the colours, put them in a blender, you get a pile of dark shit (at least that's what I would think it would look like) that's what bullimic rainbows vomit, that's what society looks like. Or one of you could just try sticking a bag of skittles in the blender and tell me what it looks like.... I'm really interested. |

It's pure grotesque and absurd: one watches these people getting beheaded and one can simply make out with another because it just doesn't make an impression on him, even death, blood squirting and shit seem like everyday things. | Having read the letter, I gotta admit that my attitude towards the song changed drastically. Reading the words before having read this letter I knew it was about escaping the "same white fence surrounding", escaping routines, but it seemed to miss the sharp imagery of war all the time and generally Geoff's style of poetry. Now, with the background story, i have a different approach. wow. As to the song's sound, it's actually good to listen to this kind of thursday and it doesn't really matter if it seems radio-friendly, at least it's not making the same shit over again. | Yeah it's both about wanting to do something with your life and saosin. I think it's about how Anthony Green came to philadelphia when taking a break from touring with saosin in the west. In Philly he met with Colin and they started to make plans about starting a band, but then anthony had to get back to the west coast. So he leaves and then the next day or something colin gets a call from anthony to come pick him up at the airport in philly at 6 am (hence sunrise) and that was the decision to basically quit saosin and start circa survive (hence handshakes- with colin). | |

I think that this song is about marriages for money when a whory-kind woman marries a crazy rich dying old man just to get all the money in his last will. Or that that woman poisons the guys for money (something like danielle said) Lost in coma and covered in cake. Increase the medication. Share the vows at the wake. Kiss the bride. But I think there's something beneath the actual story, that I cant quite dig to I read this interview and there was a question "why does the elevator only go up to ten" and gerard answered: "Well, I felt that picking a lower number would be like 'I can't get high enough' so I had to pick somewhere around ten. I felt like I just needed to get higher; like the top just isn't good enough. I think that's kind of a metaphor in how we feel and how we operate as a band, that the top isn't good enough since that's not what we're after. It's not good enough for us because we want to make a difference and actually change things. We don't just want things thrown at us. But I've gotten off on thirteenth floors. They make them right?" the whole song might be metaphorical for the band in a way? |

In my oppinion this is a tragic ending to the concept story. The man is one kill away, but before that, he gets shot and never sees his woman. In the first verse we can sense the anxiety and excitement cuz he's one kill away (you can also sense the anxiety in the music) can i meet you, alone another night and i'll see you another night and i'll be you some other way to continue to hide my face then the music gets more systematic and determined after the "another knife..." Killing had become a pattern for him but he's starting to feel remorse and his conscience starts to bother him. The last part of the song is very chaotic, the lyrics and the music are very chaotic, showing the shock the guy is going through. I think gerard sings they gave US two shots in the back of the head because as the guy dies, so does the chance that the girl will come back to life. Kind of a sad ending, but I wouldn't expect a "they lived forever after" from Gerard, right? Maybe you'll think i overanalyzed or that there's gaps in my theory, but it works well for me. |
