i know exactchange's comment is 5 years old now, but what a stupid comment. why would you be all happy that the song is named kristen too? the girl killed herself! it's not like you share your name with a happy upbeat fun song by rooney. it's a horribly tragic song! |

the very last line is left out:
Kissing me, your lips are painted black
saying "oh, let me be your downfall, baby."
for me, that's putting it like its the kiss of death (the lips painted black symbolism). hes bad for her but wants her anyway. and with this its like whenever you go back to someone and it starts getting physical again, you may as well kiss your sanity, your stability, your mental health goodbye. especially in a relationship like the song describes. that last part i think is her giving in to him. but thats just how i picture it. |

uh yeah i dont think its about anything anyone said above. the second part of this thong makes me think otherwise. it doesnt seem too carefree or whatever if you really look at the words. just because its all trumpety and cheery sounding doesnt mean its a happy song, listen to some bright eyes and then think about that. to me sounds something like an addiction, cocaine. the bloody nose, the head explode, the talk so much, the way him and his friends are like haphazard. just my take on it. maybe we were made for each other, how the drugs made everything seem so much better. then when it gets to part 2 the song really changes in feeling. you can breathe now but the air is running out. that really doesnt seem too cheerful to me. you can look at the song in a lot of different ways. |

i think it is about domestic violence, that's what i thought when i first listened to it, but i think you can totally apply it to a hard, hurting, gut-wrenching love/relationship. it can be a metaphor for someone who is 'hitting you right in the heart' with their lack of respect, lack of concern, lack of care for you or your feelings. because sometimes that can hurt just as bad if not more so than the physical abuse. |
