good job but a few minor corrections: "white felt pen" should be "white-out pen" "The riders on the tube keep call callin' their cell phones" should be "The riders on the tube keep cold coal in their belt folds" (i think..) the "Do the constables.." parts should be "Till the constables.." and right after that part, you hear someone say in the background "Till the cows come home" i'm not sure the last two lines in the "riders on the tube" part but you did as good a job as i could've at figuring them out. also, good song. about coke addiction. |

| The Postman Syndrome – Unfamiliar Ceiling Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the title of this song, along with 'hedgehog's dilemma,' another song on the cd, is straight from the anime series neon genesis evangelion. while hedgehog's dilemma seems to be only thematically about evangelion, i think this might be explicitly about the series. i'm not patient enough to go through all of it and pick out the references, but some of the imagery that appears in both the series and the lyrics are angels, humanity striving to be like god, and humanity returning to a single, unfiform existence. | |

this song is, at least thematically, about neon genesis evangelion (an amazing anime series from the mid 90s). the title (along with the title of another song on the album, 'unfamiliar ceiling') is straight from the series. in the series, hedgehog's dilemma refers to the problem of an introvert who wants to be close to others. no matter how close the 'hedgehog' tries to get, its natural defense mechanisms prevent it from intamacy. the same is true of someone who is introverted. they may desire love and companionship, but their innate defense mechanisms prevent them from doing so. (in the series, the 'hedgehog' is the main character, shinji.) there's alot of imagery in the lyrics to support this meaning. i think the greatest lines of the song are: "So I see you've built yourself a fortress too, but when compared to these walls yours seems bare like an old cocoon". it really goes along with the hedgehog's dilemma idea. |
