This could possibly be a longshot, but it seems to really make sense to me. When I heard the song for some reason it came to me that this was about the emperor Constantine in the Roman Empire. Constantine was famous because he was converted to Christianity by a vision of God before a battle, and subsequently gave the Edict of Milan, preaching religious freedom for all Romans and those under Roman rule. "I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing Roman cavalry choirs are singing" The Roman Empire controlled Israel for most of its existence. Jerusalem was also, of course, the main city of Israel. Since Constantine was converted to Christianity just before battle, these lines seem to represent that. his battle included a successful cavalry charge. "I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy’s eyes Listened as the crowd would sing Now the old king is dead long live the king One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand" He was stating that he realized that all his accomplishments and everything he had worked for were nullified without the love and protection of almighty God - including the pagan rituals at the Colisseum for which the "crowd would sing." "It was a wicked and wild wind Blew down the doors to let me in Shattered windows and the sound of drums People couldn’t believe what I’d become" Pretty self-explanatory, defines the shock of the Roman people to find out their emperor had become a Christian. |

the song's about like others hinted at the culture of death in america - everything we're taught growing up watching TV is violence, rape, smoking, drugs, and emphasis on what's outside. We just have a death-obsessed culture . It's damn unhealthy and people believe it's the way to live, sadly. The matches are kinda saying WAKE UP and smell the coffee...people die for the stupidest reasons and it's entirely preventable - that said what a fucking awesome song. my fave on the cd. |

| The song's about them being bored with where they live and having no luck with girls at all... he says all the guys are chumps (jack slaps is probably their term for it) and too afraid to go for the girls they want, they're chicken shit like he says | |

most people probably dont know this but - the lyrics are "come out Virginia don't make me wait...you catholic girls start much too late" from a Billy Joel song called "Only The Good Die Young"...that's about him trying to get his girl to be intimate with him. the song seems to be pretty straight forward that he's trying to take out a girl who is kinda wishy-washy and afraid to commit, so she jerks him around and doesnt show up to their date |
