| Actually, Canada has a very large immigrant population, particularly from Jamaica, particularly in the Toronto area. Something like 30% of Canadians are descendants of some group other than the English or French. I don't know anything about K-os, but 10 seconds on the 'Net led me to believe he or his parents are from Jamaica. So no, it doesn't seem that he's some "poser" or wannabe reggae artist. He's clearly influenced by his place of origin and the large Jamaican community in Canada. | |

Nick Hexum's lyrics spell out nothing less than an existential philosophy to live by. This song, like most of what he writes, is about living in the moment and accepting your life as it is. I don't think he says it any better than in this song: "I look to absolutes and there's absolutely none", "We waste so many moments standing on convention", "Nothing brings it all together. The journey's never done." And there's a huge error in the lyrics on this site. The correct line is "I'd sing you stormy weather but it's been sung, so let's have some fun." In other words quit dwelling on the negative and accept reality as it comes. Clearly influenced by Buddhist thought, but also according with many philosophical traditions like Rorty's pragmatism, Nick teaches us not to look for certainty, and that all things are impermanent (to use the Buddhist term.) From his lyrics it's evident that he is a profound thinker as well as a great artist. |

| It's a little cheesy; but it's catchy, and I like the message. | |

Perfection. The music, the lyrics, his voice, all come together so perfectly; few songs have been able to stir emotion in me like this one. The message is simple. It sounds almost as if he's trying to convince himself that there's only one - we all know it's irrational, but in the moment it feels like there could be no other. It's really a shame that the radio edit excludes the verse "Here I go, so dishonestly leave a note." It's such a great interlude to the outpouring of emotion. His voice sounds so great during that part. I guess it doesn't "rock" enough for them to include it on the radio; or maybe it's just a time issue. Anyway, if you've only heard the radio version you should definitely hear the whole thing. I don't think I'll ever grow tired of this song. |

I heard this one on the radio and thought she was saying "You will always be the one." I never even questioned it; that's exactly what it sounded like. It's depressing to see it's actually "We will always be a light." I like mine better. But this song still sounds great. "it sounds like she says, 'you can see if for yourself and see it' but that is just what it sounds like to me" Yeah it does sound like that, but I don't think that's what it is. But in any case I don't think you can tell by listening to it; the lyrics are too muddled and blended with the music to really tell. |

| Well if that's true the whole second half makes no sense to me...was he in love with his guitarist? What about screaming "I've got it bad" over and over at the end? What does "I'm coming over but it never was enough" mean? Our guitar playing together was never enough? | |

Oh, one more things is the end...repeating "in you" over and over until ending with "I've got it bad" over and over.... I don't know, I've just never heard a song that seemed to be more about sex and the emotions that come with sex. I have a hard time believing it's just about a bus ride from New York to Philly. And I agree with the person who said they're sure the band has more to write about than just the members that left. |

I don't know everything about the band so maybe my opinion doesn't matter, but I think this song is about sex. He wants more than sex but he knows the other person doesn't; "I've got a bad feeling about this", I know I'm falling for you but it's not going to turn out well. "I'm coming over but it never was enough", just sex isn't enough he wants something more. "Anyone will do tonight", sexual frustration. "I thought it through and my worst brings out the best in you", being a doormat/insecure builds up this other person. "You're skin and bones, I'm a nervous wreck (when it comes to this)", when it comes to being intimate. "Well say you'll have to go", wanting the contact but also wanting this other person to go because it's too painful to keep being with him/her in this way. It seems like the lyrics are really intimate to just be talking about a friend and fellow band member. Maybe the guys in this band are REALLY close, but all the lyrics in this song scream 'unrequited love' to me. |
