The Fragile is theorized as being a story similar to The Downward Spiral but with a little hope injected into the premise. 'Please' can be interpreted as the part of the story where the character realizes that his battle that he is fighting has nothing to do with other people, rather, it is a fight with himself..."the war is over and I realized it was all in my head." He now attempts to fit in to society...."now everything is clear, I erase the fear, I can disappear, I don't ever want to make it stop"...It is a breath of fresh air and he is enjoying his new look on life. However, you will realize in the later songs that he believes that conforming to society has made him become something he hates. |
