Sister Hazel – Champagne High Lyrics 21 years ago
I always thought the line was "our story's completed, but mine is a long way from done", which would say that they were done, but he was okay with it cause he knows he'll be okay.
To conflict myself:
The lines,"Well now he'll be your thing that's new
Yeah what little I have you can borrow
'Cause I'm old and I'm blue... "
Would relate to the old wedding practice of a bride having something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.

I still like to think that he is just trying to drink her away, but remembering the good times instead of forgetting it all.

The last verse is the saddest. Hell, Shakespeare and all those other old bastards wrote about unrequited love and this is much the same. He loves a women who doesn't feel the same, but he has idealized. Then he sees here coming in to get high and sees that she isn't as perfect as he thinks. It hurts to have you icons and idols shattered

Tom Petty – Mary Jane's Last Dance Lyrics 21 years ago
I think we can all agree whether the song is about pot or a woman or a town, that this is a song about leaving or quitting. A real cool line is where he says "Take me as I come cause I can't stay long". I think he is saying that it's all temporary so we should just accept each other as we come, cause we'll all be gone way too soon.
