| Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends Lyrics

these lyrics are perhaps the worst thing i have ever seen:
here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
i mean, wtf is that. Even hardcore fans can't tell me this song is good lyrically. |

Hilly2005 you want examples of good lyrics?!? Have you heard any other Radiohead songs? They are widely recognised as some of the most layered, lyrically brilliant songs ever written. Try Myxamatosis or Street Spirit. Or perhaps Pyramid Song. In fact pretty much any of their stuff from the Bends onwards. I don't want to imply anything but how exactly do you know what "an old woman struggling to get out of bed on a cold morning" sounds like. Fuck off. |

the first time i heard this i fell in love with it. The bit where thom sings DENIAL is absolutely awesome. I prefer this song much more than arpeggi and hope to see more music like this on the new album... |

i thought it was about leaving a relationship "i dont need anyone". He wants to be happy but finds himself cheating (employ my lies). I dunno. But as for the title, i thought that if someone was swimming in October then they would be all alone - not many people swim at that time of the year? Thats my interpretation anyhow.
Why are there no comments on this brilliant song? |

| Oasis – Lyla Lyrics

And someone just had a go at me for posting about something i know nothing about! Wow.
Creep - he hates the world. Wrong. Actually that song is about a guy who is crazy about a girl but feels he can never be good enough for her.
Paranoid Android - he hates the people around him. Wrong again. This song has no definite meaning, but was adapted by the band to be about the Roman Empire.
Karma Police - he wants to fuck everyone up. Wrong again. This song is about the bad feelings you harbour against people, but at the end Yorke realises he has been judgemental and regrets it "phew for a minute there i lost myself".
Sorry for posting that on an oasis page, but macman2511 may give you the wrong impression about radiohead. Their stuff is depressing granted, but also incredibly layered, beautiful music.
Oasis make good music too, even though it is very different. My view on this song, Lyla, is that it is poor lyrically, and just the same as most of their other songs. |

Ok brighteyes_85, heres me saying something to your face: this song is shit. Radiohead posts are unlike this because there is something musically to talk about rather than this 'same old same old' shit.
You think you ruined my day?! You flatter yourself. It is obviously me who was ruined your day, as you seem incredibly upset about my little comments. That shit band i call radiohead also happens to be called radiohead by everyone else, too, so i don't know what you're trying to say there. Moreover, you are very hypocritical, i quote:
"Radiohead posts aren't like this because they don't get dumbass' like urself that come into the room and post things that they have no clue on what they are talking about."
Then in your next post, you do exactly that. Since when have radiohead written about a pathetic weak guy who can't stand up for himself? |

i always assumed that this song was about not conforming with how an average citizen is "supposed" to be. I didn't understand most of the lyrics but the lines "so sell your suit and tie and come and live with me" and "plastic bag, middle class, polyethylene" are what formed this view for me. |

It appears that some oasis fans are just plain thugs. You never get abuse like that on the radiohead posts. Mind you when the lead singer of your favourite band is an arrogant thug, i suppose you feel the need to mimick him. Oh and if you're going to threaten me, at least do it articulately. You have never "met" me in your life. The vast majority of Oasis songs are very similar to one another, and the new album looks like it's going that way to. Most radiohead b-sides are better than this song. |

The lyrics are great, but the backing music just doesnt seem that good. At least theyve got a good long while to work on it before the next album. |

Thank you ManicFoot. Now fuck off chocolate and stop searching for my posts. this song is not about thom yorke, so you really need to get your facts right before making bullshit comments. If you look at some of the other posts Yorke claims he "didnt write this song" but that radiohead were merely catalysts for it. Sure the song is depressing, but it also shows the true scope of radiohead's music. |

Look i'm not trying to disagree with you about Oasis being a "good band". I have heard the masterplan and i enjoyed it. I just feel that now they are producing more of the same. I still stand by what i said about their arrogance though. For oasis to claim they are better than the Beatles is absurd. |

all you have to do is look up ^ and see what the vast majority of people thing of this song. Oh and Thom's done a piss-take cover of wonderwall which is actually better than oasis' version (just thought i'd throw that in to annoy you). |

"absurd pseudo-intellectual post modernism"? If that is what this song is then yeah its better than noel gallagher's lyrics, as i'm sure everyone on this thread would agree. All oasis seem to sing about is their own problems, radiohead's lyrics can mean something to someone on all levels, which is why this song is so genious. |

chocolate can u name one song where oasis actually experiment with something a bit different? Some songs are good, granted, but oasis themselves are nothing but a bunch of arrogant shitheads who are so far up their own arses its untrue. These lyrics hardly differ from any of their other songs in terms of content. |

this is a song that hits me everytime i listen. It is a fucking disgrace that justin hawkins dares to do an upbeat cover of this. It has ruined it for me. I hope u all agree that hawkin's effort is a complete disgrace (radiohead didnt even know about them covering it). |

doesnt anyone thing ed should be given a more active lyrical role in the band? If you listen to songs like paranoid android live you can hear that he has a really good voice (the last rain down bit is sung by him). It would be great if he could actually have a song or two to himself (other than this). |

The ice age coming is completely true. As global warming increases the ice caps will melt. This will lead to the gulf stream (the warm atlantic current that keeps Britain in a relatively warm climate) being cooled and will stop it flowing. Consequently the whole of northern Europe will freeze.
Also, when Thom sings swallow til i burst, i assume this means we just keep using fossil fuels and polluting the planet until we ruin it completely. |

There was this show on recently where radiohead were voted the best british rock band, and they played the just video.
Wouldn't say that this was the obvious choice, but its still a great song anyway. |
