They may consider it a stupid song. It is a fun little pop song. I always took the meaning as figuring out where your life is going, as others have said.
It was definitely a hit, but they didn't necessary have to include it on the Best Of. They left off "Shiny Happy People". Now that's a rather stupid song. |

Wow, this song is great. It really gets me thinking. The idea of using religion in such a way is interesting.
I just watched the music video. They are making this statement about religion and the downfall of man, and people are booing and throwing things at them. When it comes to this sort of thing, people are quick to get angry. I felt it kind of showed how close minded people can be most of the time.

You can take it either way, I believe. Ize makes sense as it is the endings to the words, but Eyes as in he can see all the corruption, problems etc. with the world. |

My Spanish teacher actually talked about this song to me in the hall once at school, since my name is Jeffery. I found it kind of odd. Pixies being also a favorite band of a friend of mine made me want to check them out and so far they're great. |

I read that it really is about masturbation. The lyrics were orignally supposed to be "It's coming up, it's coming up, It's there" but the guy couldn't pronounce there with his heavy accent. It came out sounding like dare so they just stuck with it. I don't know how correct that is. |

There's a guitar part in here that reminds me of "Maps" by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs for some reason. Anyway, this song is really catchy. Kelly Clarkson is definately a guilty pleasure of mine. I find her really sexy too. :) The song meaning is pretty obvious and has been said but I decided to throw in some comments. |

Also, Jack and Meg aren't brother and sister. I was listening to an interveiw with them and you can tell they grew up in totally different ways. Jack grew up with a lot of siblings and was raised in a religious setting and Meg wasn't. I am pretty sure they were actually married though. It could have been fake though. I guess. This song is amazing though. I agree with bonginthereggaesong. |
