Haha. There seems to be more interest in the film excerpt rather than the actual song.
But anyway, support this band. They're awesome live. |

Yeah, who cares about rolling stone magazine - in their top 100 guitarists of all time they don't even have Petrucci, Malmsteen, Micheal Angelo Batio, Jason Becker and heaps of other guys who are surely - objectively, subjectively - better than any one on that list. Yeah, yeah, there are some there for their influence... But come on, does anyone really believe that Kurt Cobain is 12th greatest guitarist of all time?! And at number 11 is Hammet?! What a joke...
Anyway, yeah, I like this song. (Sorry, I got carried away) |

Yes I also thought initially when I heard someone mentiont the songs title, that it was "Rose of SharOn"; a reference to the character in John Steinbecks "The Grapes of Wrath", but, apparently not. Though, funnily enough, these lyrics can also be applied to the adversity and loss she experiences. |

Hence for a being of seraphic carnal perfection, "goddess" may not be the correct term, as they could be a deity ascended from the fiery chasm below; a temptation bestowed upon us, an avocate on the behalf of the father of lies. |

sigh... the song that started 'tallica off as being damn mainstream... Every thing about this song is pop, the catchy riffs, James softer singing, lyrics about nothing. Kirk even changes his style from speed/trash to blues and slower. |

Even though Dimebag was still developing his style, and his playing, in my fucked up opinion, is not as emotive as in later works, it still really packs a punch. I can hear distinctive slayer licks in his solo, and it alll kicks ass. |

Cool! Someone said the solo highlights the sharp knives and stuff and I agree. It also seems like King and Hanneman are talking to each other with the soloing it kicks ass. Metallica Can't Touch this. |

This song hyptonised my when I first heard it. Only one other song had done that to me- "Floods", by Pantera, it has got such a good vibe, it ends to soon for me, and also has a solo full of emotion. |

Cool! Classic in the genre. I had a listen to the roots of, disc 2, it stood out even if it was a shitty quality live version. good build up to solo, which really delivers, and the bad ass riffs make me bang my head too hard... |

This is, in my fucked up opinion, the first classic thrash metal track ever. It even describes what thrash is like :
Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash
Even early on, Kirk Hammet shows undeniable good mad skils. this album made me laugh at times (i knwo he didn't write the solos but oh well), the solos sound comical, but still kick ass! |

It's not about the police or Phils dick, really. It's about being perhaps getting revenge, or at least venting anger at a person of authority who abused you in the past, most probably sexually. It has the same lyrical theme as "25 years", and is also about being deprived of your masculinity, hence all the mention of dicks and piss poor little ham etc. I even saw an alternative poster for the album, and the screw was going up a guys ass. It proved what far beyond driven ment. Driving anger at those who abused you, or "equalling their displeasure". This is why Far beyond driven is called Pantera's most difficult album, the lyrics are very confrontational, with lyrics challenging religion, reflecting on nasty issues, like this one and such. My favourite song off the album, along with Slaughtered, which is funny, as they dont have a solo, but they have awesome atmosphere, and clearly could have influenced hardcore music today, which i don't listen to much. This songs also got a cool ending it makes me want to smash my guitar... |
