| Conor Oberst – White Shoes Lyrics | 11 years ago |

I always thought that it was "Sugar, anything you wanna do" Lover, sister, sugar. All terms of endearment. |

| Modest Mouse – The Good Times Are Killing Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

All I want to know if they're talking about dumping their ashes in Eric's pockets? Cuz that'd be great. |

| Modest Mouse – Medication Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I just bought this on vinyl about an hour ago and I can't stop listening to this song. I could spend an entire day on a park bench just listening to it over and over. |

| Tom McRae – For The Restless Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I'm probably the only one that's gonna get this interpretation but to me, it's about sex. Some frequent lust that wakes him up at night to sleep with him. Read the lyrics and it comes off pretty easily. |

| Bright Eyes – Contrast and Compare Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"No it's seven, so it's five hours before 1998" Has anyone else noticed that was included into the noise at the end of Untitled (Lovers Turn Into Monsters) Or... That the remix version, that Her Space Holiday did, incorporated the weird synth noise in A Poetic Retelling Of An Unfortunate Seduction into it? Just a thought, maybe these three songs are connected, maybe even along with It's Cool, We Can Still Be Friends "We still rent movies, but we don't share the couch" - It's Cool... "And there's a thousand movies rented for a thousand nights with her" - Untitled... Maybe this song is where he's given up on trying to get the girl back, trying to cure his boredom and dissatisfaction with life, and with anything really, and just pretend that "everything's fine". It also puts a new perspective on songs like Take It Easy (Love Nothing) and Lover I Don't Have to Love and all of the alcohol references in his songs. |

| Metric – The Twist Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The man singing in the song (as well as other Metric songs) is James Shaw, the guitarist for Metric. Him and Emily are basically the creative force behind all of these amazing songs. | |
| Bright Eyes – Mirrors and Fevers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
There are so many songs that could have given Fevers & Mirrors so much more power than it already has, and this is definitely one of them. Along with The Joy In Forgetting/The Joy In Acceptance. This track is crafted beautifully, Conor sounds like he's hiding in a closet from the incessant noise of everyday life. If you put this track between Jetsabel Removes The Undesirables and Sunrise, Sunset on the Japanese import of Fevers & Mirrors, it turns the album into a Shakespearean tragedy. It's beautiful. |

| Brand New – Car (Built to Spill cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I like the feel of this version compared to the Built To Spill original. I feel like this song is about breaking out and exploring whatever world appeals to you, appreciating the simple things and the things we let complicate ourselves. to simply be a person. all in all. i find it to be a simple song. which is why i like Jesse's voice in it. it almost feels like a lullaby singing someone to sleep. now i wanna cover this song. | |
| Bright Eyes – A Spindle, a Darkness, a Fever, and a Necklace Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Does anybody else get the image that Conor's lyrics are from the point of view of someone reading a book, basically watching a character go through a downfall and wishing they would stop being so much like them? That's what I get from the song. |

| Marilyn Manson – Inauguration Of The Mechanical Christ Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This track is meant to go with the imagery he began every show on The Last Tour On Earth with. Television sets formed into a cross with Manson taking the famous pose on this cross. "This isn't me I'm not mechanical." This intro always lead into The Reflecting God, which was s statement of humanity destroying itself. And where is the most comfortable and convenient way to be a witness to our slow and cinematic suicide? That's right, the TV. He takes the role of the saviour of our entertainment. Someone who has died for it. But detaches themself from it to tell us that we're only wasting time, that we could be using to save ourselves. Why do you think The Reflecting God starts off the show? It's a warning. And it's beautiful. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, stop being dumbasses and realize that no artist (especially one like Brian Warner) would make something because it sounds cool or to fill time. It will have meaning. |

| Marilyn Manson – Man That You Fear Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is the spine-tingling conclusion to this brilliant concept album. The character in the story, was a boy(worm), who inheritedhis father's title through selfishness and greed and this is the part of the story where he realizes that there is no one waiting for him at the tip of the mountain. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann)/Rosetta Stoned are my favorite from the new 10, 000 years. An absolutely beautiful display. Surreal only in a way Maynard could pull off. I love how the vocals bledn with the music and help keep it goping rather than overshadowing it, which would've completely ruined the song. |

| My Chemical Romance – Give 'Em Hell Kid Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
There's a lot of role switching for this song (concept-wise). The verses are written from the point of view of the lover left with life on Earth without their love that they once had. Having a tough time moving on. The choruses are from the point of view of the deceased lover in the after-life. encouraging them to move on. |

| My Chemical Romance – Helena Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This is the first chapter of an amazing concept album, about two lovers, he keeps switching from perspectives on the album for this song, he's speaking for someone losing their lover, but trying to move on with their life as well i read in an article that it was about his MOTHER's passing, but it was Spin so it wasn't very reliable this was the first song written for the album |

The beauty of Maynard's lyrics are how vague yet specific they can be. He builds an atmosphere for the listeners to apply to their own worlds. I |
