| Dave Matthews Band – The Last Stop Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the song is certainly anti war and anti violence. Dave is a fan of Jesus (he has said so many times) and is using Jesus\'s philosophies and sacrifice to prove his point. and in the live version, he does say Nailing God to a tree. then we beg His forgiveness. he is talking about how awful we can be sometimes, and how we dont even see it. how we can kill a man (God) then ask his forgiveness. IMO, anyway. | |
| Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song is about a former band member (not sure which) but saying the he chose the easy way, the safe way, he has no experiences. He left a "walk on part in a war, for a lead role in a cage" he took no risks, and his life was less for it, and they wish he was there, wishing that he had stuck it out w/ them, to the phenomenal success that is pink floyd. | |

PS. Azwrath put it perfectly. LOVE doesnt mean tolerate. i dont judge, but i dont have to accept something that is wholly against my beliefs and my God. Christ loves everyone, true, and i try to love as He does. But he also sees right and wrong, and I am to see that as well. |

| DC Talk – Jesus Freak Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Im not getting into any debates here. This song is about a faith so absolute that they dont care what others think, About devoting themselves to Christ, despite the world. It is a good lesson for ANY Christian, or for that matter, anyone who believes in a higher power (though the only higher power is Christ) | |

read up on cornell He was a catholic, and he left the faith. this is his story about leaving then returning to it, or to God and Jesus (not necessarily catholic) He flees the bible in the first verse, feeling the book is full of death. in the last verse, he comes back to God, repents, asking for forgiveness. in the middle verse, he says he prays to all the gods and angels LIKE a pagan (meaning he is NOT a pagan, but acting like one even though he knows better) and he wants to return to heaven (being in Gods Grace) like he was when he was younger. so he: And on i read Till the day was gone And i sat in regret Of all the things i've done For all that i've blessed And all that i've wronged In dreams until my death I will wander on its about redemption w/ God |

again, i see religious meanings here. Chris cornell left catholocism when he was younger because he didnt like how mindless some ppl were w/ it (that is the short version) and this song as well as others are about coming back to God and Jesus. Once upon a time I was on a mind to lay your burden down and leave you where you stood you believed i could you'd seen it done before Laying Gods burden down, as he had before. but now that is gone over with and done and never to return and now he is back, and will not leave again (these are my interpretations, and i am obviously a religious guy, but read up on cornell, and his songs make more sense) |

| Audioslave – Light My Way Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| CHris cornell is/ or was a catholic (i am not sure which) and this song is very simply a prayer to Jesus, who is the lamp unto my feet. HEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP is what this song means. | |
| Audioslave – Show Me How to Live Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, chris cornell is or was a catholic, and almost every song on this album deals /w God, or faith. This is most definitly a religious song. He is asking God for help, and you see some of that symbolism (and his problems w/ religion) in the video (handling of snakes) and its straight foward GOD, WHATS THE MEANING OF LIFE, YOU CREATED ME, SO TELL ME!!!!! | |
| Train – Hopeless Lyrics | 21 years ago |

its about being left. my situation right now is identical. And you dont need my pictures on your wall you say you need no one and you dont need my secret midnight call i guess you need no one He is bitter about it, and hurting. same thing here, dated a girl for 5 years, she dropped me about 3 weeks ago. she doesnt "need" me anymore, and i can totally relate |

| Train – Blind Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| well, its fairly obvious what he is talking about. Growing old before his time, also being alone. It is a heart wrenching song that will resonate deeply w/ everyone at one point in their lives or another. | |
| Līve – Heaven Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I dont know if he is a Christian or not, but he certainly believes in God, as you can tell in this song. He says that God is here, is self evident, is in the sunsets, his daughter, that the intellectual arguements against God sound good but are, in truth, wrong. And, stoolhardy is right, he certainly thinks alot about Christianity for a nonChristian, which i dont believe he is. I think he may not be a....church every sunday, ultraconservative Christian, but there is faith here. | |
| Līve – Run To The Water Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i am not sure what this song means, rewally, though as most live songs, it is deeply spiritual in nature and symbolism. | |
| Līve – The Distance Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| it is him searching for God. about us not being able to bridge the distance between us and God, its not do-able in these bodies of clay, or in our fragile states. God alone can bridge the gap, we need to wait for Him, Jesus, for something sweeter. | |
| Līve – I Alone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It has alot to do w/ faith, at least in my mind. obviously i am a very religious person, and see things in that light. The passion in his voice is definitly there, however, passion is not anger. i think it is about Christ, about his love, etc... also, about being tested, tempted. Though God doesnt tempt us, he allows us to be, so this is a slightly liberal interpretation of that. God loves us, and allows us to be tempted, therefore tempts us, and again, He loves us. There are alot of religious symbols in Lives music, and most of them are pro-Jesus, so far as i can tell. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Halloween Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this is what i call my angry song. i can relate to the feelings in here, as can anyone who has gone through, not necessarily a bad relationship, but ending a good relationship. the pain that goes w/ it, the regret, etc... and the outright rage and hate, as well. you can feel the pain in this song, and if you can find a live video of it (rare i think) you can see that he isnt happy when singing it. or shreiking it, i guess. but it is true to emotion. and simply amazing, in a very disturbing way. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – The Maker Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I dont think it is a song about losing your way in religion, but finding your way. The start of the song, he says "I'm a stranger in the eyes of the Maker" and at the end he is NOT a stranger in the eyes of the Maker. as well as other lyrics in the song. i think it is about coming to religion, maybe despite of himself, despite of everything. obviously, i am a deeply religious guy, and song struck a cord within me. i think it is mainly about daves struggle w/ religion, (tho he didnt write it, he chose to sing it multiple times) and is about COMING to God, now leaving. | |
| Dave Matthews Band – Bartender Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Well, i think that the meaning of this song is fairly well covered in here, however, i wanted to add what it struck me as. First, obviously Dave has trouble w/ religion, Christianity, if you listen to any of his songs, he is everywhere on the subject. Agnostic is very different from athiest, what it means basically is that he doesnt know about GOd, the truth, and is in no hurry to clear up the mystery. However, what i got out of this song wsa not just redemption, but him asking for faith. to me, the wine represents faith. Jesus was raised by faith (my interpretation) and the wine is used to represent that. Judas's wine, however, was tainted, bad, rotten, whatever. and Dave is asking God for the faith that Jesus had, maybe, to help him. Because anyone that is one foot in one foot out w/ religion is conflicted. with any religion, it is a powerful subject. I think he is regretting, very much so, parts of his life, and hoping that he will be remembered positivley. But he wants Gods love, at least from my point of view. This is a very powerful song, and one of my favorites of all times. | |
