Marilyn Manson – Get Your Gunn Lyrics 21 years ago
Well this is a critique of pro life groups with their psuedo morals (psuedo = fake, or a replacement) and somewhat strange attitudes.

If they are so pro life why not stop trying to damage abortion clinics and instead adopt a kid? Theres millions out there. But hey who am I to comment, I wouldn't adopt a kid cos I hate kids, they remind me too much of me.

Abortion is something I have had to face in my life and I look upon it as a blessing in some ways and a curse in others. It's not something to be taken lightly but if you aint been through it, as most of these pro lifers haven't i think your opinion can be counted as valueless!

This is what I think Manson is really getting at. Interesting to note as well is that when he use's the word Abortion in other songs its not meant literally. Its a different kind of Abortion, the emotional crippling of your kids when you don't pay them enough attention and pack them off to a school and life they hate.

Lets look after the kids already here rather than worry about the ones who aint.

Angry music for the meek, repressed and bullied kid in all of us. I wish life had a soundtrack so's this could play next time I have a fight!

Marilyn Manson – Working Class Hero Lyrics 21 years ago
I love both of them, they are almost two seperate songs.

Lennon's version is sung by a man resigned to his fate without the ability to be really pissed about it anymore. He understands all the shit going on but can't get outraged, its just a fact that life works like this.

Manson isn't resigned to this fate, he's pissed! A very angry version of it, making the song his own.

I don't know if i prefer either, i just think they suit different moods.

Marilyn Manson – The Golden Age Of Grotesque Lyrics 21 years ago
lol, nice comments.

The point of GAG, the Album and the song, is highlighting the similarities between 1930's Nazi Germany and modern day America.

Both in Mansons and my opinions America is a fascist state much like Nazi Germany was. Fear rules. Terrorism is the nightmare, gun crime is the nightmare, Manson is the nightmare. The reality is far more of a nightmare, censorship, no free speech, a facist bastard in charge. Anyways, back to the lyrics...

'Low Art glomminati' = talentless, like most entertainers in the US and the president and politicians. All very interested in repressing 'high art' or any real expression as they dont get it and its a threat to their hallowed institutions!

Great song, brilliant album, genuine talent.

Marilyn Manson – Target Audience (Narcissus Narcosis) Lyrics 21 years ago
Spot on with the analysis guys.

Echo's of Anne Bradstreets poems, 'pitiful anonymous' meaning that he isn't a threat and that maybe the US should look beyond the easy scapegoat. Shakepeare as a scapegoat could just be a reference to poets or artists ie. Manson and how they get blamed for societies ills when all they really do is point them out.

Manson is one of the greatest songwriters since dylan, although his lyrics are more obscure and harder to interpret.

'Booth and Oswald' two famous assasin's. Maybe an assasin is what society is crying out for, maybe though these assasins were part of the totalitarian government and its seizure of control from those who would present a threat. Whatever they are both key figures in US history and Manson, being the intelligent bloke he is, understands and can highlight this.

Gotta love it, all his work is a challenge to white, christian, hypocritical, consumer based, decadent american society.

Wonder how many times I spelt soceity wrong?

The Beatles – Golden Slumbers Lyrics 21 years ago
I had always known about this song having been a beatles fan since I was ten! However it only took on any significance for me in the past few months. Drinking a lot and smoking too much weed, arriving back at my flat in a depressed state I started playing beatles tunes. This one leapt out and blew me away, made me actually cry.

Its a tune I'm gonna play to my kids when I have some. Paul may be a bit of a sell out and some times his tunes do drip with insincerity, using emotion to sell but this is a true gem. Try some of the bootleg versions to find earlier takes when Paul is even more emotional, amazing stuff!
