Is he trying to say... Everyone is so fucked up that they can't relate to eachother so everyone is doomed to a life of loneliness? Or maybe he's just talking about himself and one other person Depressing song |

My favorite Linkin Park song. There are certain parts of this song that really mean something to me: "Time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down to the end of the day The clock ticks life away It's so unreal" I can totally relate to that. Time is precious and life always seems to be slipping away and you don't notice it until you think about it. "I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter" Very depressing. You try so hard to get something or somewhere (maybe your entire life) but it never happens. All your efforts go to waste. Funny, this kinda reminds me of 2003 Stanley Cup playoffs when Calgary Flames lost in game 7. In a broader sense this song may be about trying very hard to live up to someone's expectations. And even if the expectations are met you've satisfied someone else but not yourself, which is what really matters. Seems to be a common theme in Linkin Park songs. |

"Talent" is a very subjective word. All I know is that Linkin Park has sold millions of records and millions of people enjoy their music. So whoever is buying and listening to their music obviously like what they hear and would most likely agree that the band is incredibly talented. Not just anybody could sit down and write lyrics like this... And if they could, why don't they and then go sell them and make millions of dollars? I believe that it takes lots of talent and creativity to write a song like this. And yeah, I agree with one of the postings on the first page that this song is about self-hatred and perhaps self-mutilation. |

| Collective Soul – The World I Know Lyrics | 21 years ago |

Very powerful song. To me, this song is about how people in the world have become so cold and distant from one another. The writer feels like nobody cares about other people's strife or problems. Society, as a whole, has become very apathetic, self-serving, and non-caring in general (Especially in New York City) BURN! It also sounds as though there is love and sympathy in the world but for some reason everyone doesn't see it? Maybe, strangers appear cold and unfriendly, but deep inside they are loving and caring individuals (which I've found is usually true) I'm not sure if the person ends up killing themself or not, but it sounds as though they decide to accept the world for what it is because they know it won't change. Now what the hell does "All the words that I've been reading, Have now started the act of bleeding, into one" mean??? |
