| I had Within Temptation reccommended to me by a friend online, as it practically floored me listening to it. The song is just incredibly powerful, especially the line "The smile when you tore me apart", which is great for those breakups where the other person seems perfectly happy with the arrangement and they seem utterly oblivious to the pain they cause. | |

I'd never heard of the band until about two months ago, when I downloaded a music video for the song created in the Half Life 2 game engine, and it staggered me. The video was called "Still seeing Breen", and the song complimented it perfectly. The lyrics even fit the narrative of the game to an extent. I am seriously considering finding out more to this band, as I love this song. I'd pretty much agree with all of the interpretations I've seen here as well. Considering where I first heard the song I'm more inclined to link the apocalyptic meanings people have mentioned to the lyrics. |

Wow.... this band are on Songmeanings? I love the style of this band... the retro-computer game/rock/metal thing is really unusual, and quite amusing. It sounds like a general rebellious theme, but I don't really listen to the lyrics I must admit, this band's sound is novel enough alone. |

I must say this song seems horribly addictive... I was reading through the lyrics in my CD case and saw this song and thought "What the heck!?" I put it on out of curiousity and found the opening to the song extremely addictive to listen to and the flow of the lyrics seems very unusual to me... I absolutely love the sound of the chorus as well. This is a really odd sounding song, but I do enjoy it... The tune just captivates me... maybe I'm easily pleased... :p |

| I find this song very moving, as I am in a similar position myself. It describes how desire for someone else can make it almost impossible to live life when everything you see or hear reminds you of that person. You need that person to fill a void in your life. | |

I would agree with both, as Captain Nemo I believe had become embittered towards his fellow man and banished himself, didn't he? I suppose this would be him not finding his "place" as it were. "For hope I'd give my everything" is a key line to me. It suggests that the feeling of being nothing leads to desperation to achieve a purpose for oneself. There is nothing to lose anymore, so for any kind of hope one would be willing to give up whatever they have left. I might have to research the band more, because the more I read into the lyrics, the more I find parts that I relate to. Does anyone understand the "My flower, withered between the pages 2 and 3" reference? It sounds dramatic, but I don't understand it. |

This song brings me close to tears everytime I hear it. It means a lot to me. The sense of loss that one cannot recover from... another song in a totally different style that reminds me of the feeling I get listening to this is "Outlaw Torn" by Metallica, but this is more epic than even the S&M version of Metallica's song. I find myself whispering the chorus to myself when no-one's around. It's sad, terribly forlorn but beautiful nevertheless. I'd rate it as one of my favourite songs in an instant. |
