This song is about someone who is broken through years of being tormented by others. Someone who can feel nothing but self pity and wants to hide away from the world - all because of the way they've been treated by other people. Being pushed around to the point where they don't feel they have anything to offer the world any more. The song writer is telling this person that they've been through similar feelings and emotions and that it's going to be ok. It doesn't matter how much people might try to grind you down and do things that make you feel like you don't matter - you really do. If you let yourself be open to it, others will show you that you're going to be fine, like many others who have had to endure the same feelings in their lifetime. Never give up on life. |

I do wonder if people actually read into the lyrics of Lifehouse's songs before jumping on the "I think it's about God" bandwagon. Sounds harsh, but I think the majority of the song is far too literal in the way it speaks about a person for it to be about God. Take for example the first verse, and the lines And all I could say was your name I’ve had my share of pain But I know it’s made me who I am today It wouldn't make sense for this to be about God, in my opinion. Also, the second verse says - I can tell you mean well by your eyes But a father’s intentions can be turned to lies But nobody’s perfect I guess Now this says to me that it could well be about Jason's father leaving. If he's reading someone through eye contact, it's not going to be about God, then the line "A father's intentions..." sort of gives it away to me. Something about the father intending to always be there for him but it quickly became a lie and he walked away (or something similar). The song is brilliant though, quite frankly. The chorus is beautiful (and also doesn't make complete sense in the context of God, as I don't see God "Shouting down that you love me, Wondering why I can't hear you"). Not that I doubt any connection to God in certain songs, but as far as I've seen from Lifehouse's lyrics, they're more related to life in general than just about their relationship with God. |

| I'm surprised this has been up for 3 years and not one comment has been made. Seems to be a love song. I'm more making this comment though because I like Jason's voice on it. It's different to the style he's developed throughout Lifehouse's later stuff, but it's still brilliant. Lifehouse never fail to impress me, even when I'm looking back at their old Blyss stuff. | |

I know that Lifehouse are a Christian band and obviously have an underlying theme of God in certain songs, I just don't quite see how or why he'd be saying he's "so in love with" God... However, whatever your interpretation, it's a beautiful song, and I sort of wish I'd heard their old Blyss stuff a long time ago! |

I agree with the consensus that this is about breaking out of being the person others want you to be. Other people want you to conform to how they think you should be and they're scared you'll become your own person. This song is about somone who has taken it upon themselves to break out of that and do what they want and how it takes the weight off them and breaks the chains other people have put on them. I'm especially fond of the lines Does it scare you that I can Be something different than you Would it make you feel More comfortable if I wasn't It pretty much sums up the meaning there. Oh, and the interlude is basically saying, people can look and laugh, but it's something that deep down inside, they're all going through too, and the songwriter knows that. |

As much as I know that Lifehouse write things about God a lot, the one thing that makes me think this song is not about God is the "you burn me with your eyes" part. It just seems to make far more sense if it's a song about a person. In general, I think the song is just about him needing and wanting someone so much. He just wants them to take him away so he can be with them. I'd go into more detail, but I don't have much time! |

I think the song is about, quite obviously as others have said, someone who only looks for love based on looks. The line "So fill and empty space with another pretty face" suggests that when a relationship ends, they just go straight for another looker to fill the space. To the person who posted the lyrics - Learn the difference between "you're" and "your", it's annoying to find lyrics with such mistakes. It's "exception" not "acception". It's "only scratching the surface", not "always" in the chorus. I probably sound picky and harsh here, but I don't intend to be. Either way, this song is brilliant, along with the majority of Trapt's stuff. |

To me, in this song, something's obviously happened which was previously ignored. But now, it's been recognised, and he's opened his eyes to see the truch, which hurts. I'm not totally sure what the thing that's happened is, I'd imagine it's to do with relationships (maybe cheating? lies? Some sort of problem in their relationship that went ignored but now has come to light and made them split up? Something like that). It's hard to figure out the exact thing. The reason why I'm hooked on this song, is because I recently got with a girl, and things have been really arkward. So we've decided not to be together til we figure it out. We were ignoring the problems over the last couple of days, but we've both opened our eyes. And although I've got confused/mixed feelings about where I want it to go, it's hit me relatively hard. |

As for the song, as I said in another set of lyrcis for BB, it's hard to decipher the meanings from some of their songs. I think Ben is a brilliant lyricist. Anyway, this song is easily one of their best and it actually makes me fill up which is a lot to admit for a song. There's just so much power in Brad's voice and the lyrics are just plain beautiful. It's a song which makes me wish I was still with my ex, even when I know what she did and what she's like. |

| I love this song. Right now, it's just what I've gone through. I managed to pick up this album at the end of last year and it's one of my favourite albums. Me and one of my best friends (Jess) knew we both liked each other but she said she wasn't ready. We ended up kissing one night and then we were in a relationship which started great. She then realised she actually wasn't ready. Only lasted 2 weeks and 2 days, but now I feel I've lost one of my best friends. This song sums up exactly how I feel, it's so great.
