| El-Creepo! – Space Needle Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Just a hunch here but I think this song is from the standpoint of a heroine addict (mind you I don't think Todd Smith is a heroine addict). "I don't feel a thing, and that's alright with me...I'll just sit and rot away, and that's okay with me." "Now I've got you burning on a silver spoon...Now you've got me flying, flying to the moon." I think those are both obvious heroine references. The title of the song is Space Needle which is a Seattle landmark. Seattle was the home of many popular grunge-era bands that all suffered from heroine addictions. Perhaps he is just giving his perspective on the addiction. | |
| Cage the Elephant – Back Against The Wall Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think the lyrics to this song reflect on some pretty universal feelings. Feeling trapped and wanting to get away. | |
| Chimaira – Six Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm not really sure what this song is about but something to take into consideration is this song is called "Six" and there are six members in Chimaira. Then again the song title may stand for something else. | |
| Norma Jean – Amnesty Please Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure this song has to do with two people (or more) that can't put the past behind them. One side feels they forgive the other but their trust will never be regained. I kind of get the vibe that this song isn't just about one persons feelings. It's more of reflections of what both sides are feeling. | |
| 40 Below Summer – Wither Away Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't think this song is about drug use. Maybe marijuana helped Max cope with things in the time he wrote this song. I think this song is about losing someone. Maybe there are some lines in the song that reflect how marijuana helped him cope with the loss. | |
| Mushroomhead – Simple Survival Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
By the lyrics I get the vibe that maybe this song is about justifying if it's really worth staying with someone you've been in a relationship with. Whether it's a friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, family member, husband/wife...it could really be any of those. They're always bringing you down and Mushroomhead are saying "get up" and "lead the revival" but it's never simple. |

| Mushroomhead – Burn Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think this song has to do with not letting people get the best of you and not letting them walk all over you in life. You have to stand up for your ideas and beliefs even if you have to go against the grain sometimes to do it. That's just the vibe I am getting from the song when I read the lyrics. |

| 40 Below Summer – Jonesin' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I asked Max from 40BS where does the title "Jonesin' " come from and he said he wrote the song about something really personal and to tell me where it came from and what it was about he would have to go into a lot of deep feelings; so I told him not to worry about it. I don't really get where the lyrics in this song could have came from though. When I hear this song and read the lyrics I kind of get the vibe that maybe a person murdered (and/or raped) someone they felt really strongly about but wasn't exactly being treated right. Perhaps a guy/girl murdering (and/or raping) their significant other. |

| Stone Sour – Through Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah I read in Revolver Magazine that Corey Taylor wrote this song in a hotel room in Europe. Apparently he was watching MTV Europe and saw how horrid a lot of their music was. He said that everyone says a lot of the music in America sucks but wait until you hear all the crap that comes out in Europe. Basically he says that he could have wrote plenty of Bother's but he wanted to write something the band could all get involved in about how fake some people can be with their lives. | |
| Sevendust – Too Close To Hate Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I read somewhere that this song was written about the Atlanta local music scene. That a lot of the bands all have the same hope's and dreams as each other, so they are "too close to hate." | |
| SikTh – Part Of The Friction Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I agree with LVH. I think this song seems to be about how people see celebs doing something on TV or read about them in magazines and it makes them want to do the same. I also think maybe this has to do with reality television. How they slate people in these rare circumstances to find out the "reality" of life. | |
| SikTh – Bland Street Bloom Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think maybe this song has to do with a lot of the ignorance that is in the world. Some people won't do certain things because they just have it "etched" in their mind that you can't do it because things will result from it. Standards reguarding behavior that exist in our society today are preventing them from doing things they might want to do. People do a lot of things for the sake of others. I think maybe this song is a stab at those people. Trying to say: do things for yourself. Don't let someone predetermine how you should think, act, feel, etc... |

| The Red Chord – Breed The Cancer Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is obviously about tobacco. I've met the lead singer of The Red Chord - Guy a few times and I know he told me the way he keeps his charisma onstage and in studio is he likes to eat healthy and stay in shape. I wouldn't say the band's entire message is to put yourself under the label "straight edge." I think he wants their music to speak for itself and teach everyone to be themselves but live life for what it's worth. | |
| The Dillinger Escape Plan – Unretrofied Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think a lot of the interpretations given could be very accurate but my interpretation is the song is about all the bands/musicians that jump on the bandwagon to fit in with "what's in" at the time. | |
| Five Pointe O – Syndrome Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ***when they die*** | |
| Five Pointe O – Syndrome Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think the songwriter wrote this about asking (someone, something, himself) for the reason as to why we are put on this earth. I think maybe he is also asking as to if there is a god out there watching over him. I have heard that some people believe when they day die, they become a star. "I kick back and watch the stars. They say: “This day will come so please don’t be afraid.” Looking at the stars and wondering when his day will come. "Abandoned body, mobility of “think”. Aesthetic proof beyond nimbus, Come find me away, away, away." The songwriter wondering if there is an afterlife perhaps, and if there is will it find him? "Coffee-fuelled robots with plans. Dollars, dimes, supply and demand. We need something more. Something more." The songwriter demanding that people need something more to live for. "World way out there. You’re sort of strange." The songwriter finishing up the rest of the song saying he can't explain what his purpose in the world is, and that the world sometimes can confuse him. "Fruit for the brain. Hope of true source. But it’s so far. It seems way too far." I think this means that the only thing we have to keep us strong is hope. Hope of a better day, and hope for the answer to all of life's questions. Even though it seems so far away. |

| Nothingface – Incarnadine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I don't think***, not thing. whoops | |
| Nothingface – Incarnadine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this song is about someone Matt lost and now these are his words describing what it felt like to him to lose them. I don't mean lost as in "someone who died," but more of someone who betrayed him, cheated him, or stabbed him in the back. When you listen to the song it kind of runs all over, with lots of different patterns and changes. Maybe this might be reflecting all the emotions he went through with this person. I don't thing the song is about god, I think the reference to god is only in there to show that turning to god for questions about how fucked up things in life can be is just a waste of his time. I looked up the word "incarnadine" and pretty much it seems to be a rather outdated word that is only used in descriptive writing, and in old literature and poetry, but it means "of a flesh color, or blood-red." Synonyms for it are Crimson and any word that associates with blood so maybe the reason he chose this as a name is because he had boiled up to this point and felt like something had to come out. As if he had been put under so much he just got to this point to where he was ready to explode. My conclusion to what I think the song is about is... in life we often say "you win some, and you lose some." Maybe Matt lost someone and just doesn't understand why things have to be like this. It seems he has pulled every question in his mind as to why this could have happened to him, but still can't figure out why things are like this. That's why torward the end of the song he says... "But it will never end Don't hold your mother fucking breath Embrace your lonely selfishness" This is him concluding that he thinks things like this in life are are going to happen to everyone (an endless trial, convicting all), it's just a part of life and now he is left lonely from losing someone and feels he is selfish for wanting to keep them and going through this trial. |

| Nothingface – Dead Like Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The song is about killing your girlfriends friends for ruining your relationship by the spread of rumors and word of mouth. Matt was in a relationship with a girl while he was in Nothingface and his girlfriends friends were always telling his g/f how he is out on the road and cares more about his music than her, and he could be out there doing anything behind her back. Pretty much they manipulated her into breaking up with him, and this is him singing about how things might have worked out if he would have just killed her friends. | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – The Satanic Cowboy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think this song is about the complex that redneck fathers will raise their children into the same thing they have become, a redneck. When really the child will probably resent his father for that...and revolt in doing many things his father will deem "Evil." When in essence evil isn't something in materialistic it's something we create, an image, an oppinion. | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – God Crisis Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think this song is about abortion. The album comes from the cd "Embryos in Bloom" and it seems the whole album is influenced by societys emphasis on sex, birth, and all of that stuff. This song particular being about abortion. Men and women having sex and then being stuck with a child and the decision to abort the fetus. The whole message "is it alright to play god on the unborn" being a God Crisis. "The embryo's in bloom From the tunnel's warm light A sunset armageddon sky Orange flames of fire night we'll enlighten you... " That meaning...an embryo is inside the womans body being born but will it see the life or see "Armageddon" or the end. Then We'll enlighten you is probably their way of trying to say "hey just think about it!" I don't wanna make this too lengthy, I might add more that I believe makes my theory on this song true. |

| Dog Fashion Disco – Albino Rhino Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| most definately TX9, this song is about the skinhead movement. DFD coming from the DC-Baltimore area would have known alot about this, because that part of the east coast is where much of it all began. | |
| Dog Fashion Disco – Pink Riots Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Well Todd Smith of DFD quoted that alot of his material on this album he used the writing style of Neil Fallon (Clutch) just writing whatever sounded good. Even if he did use that writing technique on this song, I would say it is about the many gay/aids protestors in the 80's demaning support from the U.S. government to search for a vaccine. "Hypodermic boyfriend. You’ll never be forgiven. Say goodbye and let him go. Let him go. The feminine police are crucified in bleach. Dirty and diseased, Unable to get clean. " aids can be contracted through blood, like a hypodermic needle...the hypodermic boyfriend (having aids) leading another man on, giving him the aids virus. He will never be forgiven for it. The feminine police being the many gay police that conquered Los Angeles, dirty and diseased with aids that cannot be cured. Just my thought, I could be wrong but definately one of my favorite DFD songs. |
