This is my favorite song of theirs, so far. I can listen to it over and over. My problem is the people calling them "foreigners speaking mumbo-jumbo" and saying the lyrics don't make sense because these guys "don't speak English very well". News Flash: English is their first language. They are not fluent in Spanish. I studied Spanish for 7 years and I can easily recognize their accents. They pull it off very well, but I'd give them a run for their money. I feel like TMV stretches (more than) a bit when creating "cryptic" lyrics for the sake of being cryptic. I get the impression that some of these non-words and weird phrases aren't meant to signify much, and if they are, it's a bit presumptuous for my liking. I love this song, though. |

| Or maybe that whole thing is talking about the church guy who knocked up Frances the Mute. It makes more sense to me, because it says "gutted at the nave" and doesn't that signify Cygnus' birth, or something? | |

Will somebody explain what this song means, since it apparently explains the album, Frances the Mute? While you're at it, please explain the entire album to me. Or maybe there's a website where that's already been done? So far, I get that the entire album is based off a diary that was found. But who was the writer? Frances the Mute? Who is Cygnus/Vismund... who is the widow? And Elvia? And the diary, I gather, is about an adopted person in search of his/her mother. This track was not included on the album Frances the Mute, but it's supposed to "decode", or explain the meaning of the album. I still don't get it. This reminds me a bit of Dante's Inferno. I would like a bit more... literal interpretation, though. Many of the metaphors, situations, and characters are beyond me. |

I'm getting: P-p-p-poker face Fu-fu-fuck her face. am I the only one? I think it's meant to be a play on words. |

yeah someone said this: I was thinking that maybe the line... "Heaven's never enough, we will never be fooled" really should read ... "Heaven's never enough, we will never be FULL" if that's right, maybe that supports my assumption more. |

| Elliott Smith – Last Call Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
one of my favorite songs... all i know is that i relate to this song about time my boyfriend... "that she didn't tell you quite the truth"... he knows it "i wanted her to tell me that she would never wake me" from this dream of wishing things could be perfect. the "last call" part COULD apply to drinking, but personally, i feel it has more to do with the relationship.... last call for to prove herself and right her wrongs...... |

i always thought this song was about his girlfriend... hoping she could get over the love of anorexia and love him.... buy i forget... i'm stuck in the stereotype that only girls suffer from anorexia... but looking at him, he is rather thin... great song... i've always loved it until i read more about him and realized that maybe it was about him... |

| Tegan and Sara – Walking with a Ghost Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i agree with fascination_street. it's kinda like you try to walk around alone but this"ghost" from your past keeps following you around, and you say PLEASE DONT INSIST (get it? like you want it to go away). and they keep repeating "you're out of my mind" but they know it's not true because they are singing about it. repetition = trying to convince myself that "you're out my mine...OUT OF MY MIND" (but you're not...i wish you were) lol. |

| Queen – I Want To Break Free Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
it means that he wants to be out of a relationship. he had "fallen in love...for the first time" he says 'i cant get used to livin without you by my side", but then says "God knows, got to make it on my own, So baby can't you see, I've got to break free" He loves the person, but the relationship is shitty: "I want to break free from your lies, you're so self-satisfied, i dont need you"" He is trying to convince himself that he does not need the person who treats him like shit, even though deep inside he feels like he still DOES need that person. "when i walk out that door, i've got to be sure" he is kind of questioning, but really wants to "break free" from the relationship. Or at least that's my take on it. It's how I feel about my boyfriend....so..... maybe I just analyzed it based on my own feelings.. " |

| Nirvana – Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I love the line "I miss the comfort in being sad", but unlike what that AFI person said, I think it has to do with how mental illness works. A lot of depressives don't get better because in a way, their depression is kinda like a refuge. When they get better, sometimes they miss the depression, hence "I miss the comfort in being sad". Also, with bipolar disorder, the mania can often be worse than the depression. So even though that you feel happy, you can miss the comfort of depression. I can relate to that line very well. |

| Thursday – Where The Circle Ends Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this song depresses me. i listened to it on repeat before i was put in the mental hospital while slashing my wrists with a razor blade. it just felt so fitting. i'm not saying the song made me do it. that's stupid. it was just right for the mood. about how life and the world is all fucked up and really... where does the circle end? i'm not crazy like THAT anymore, though. |
