Plants as far as i know are still, still bending toward the light and if we dance until the heart explodes it'll make this place ignite and even if this hall collapses I can stand by my pillar of hope it's just a case of Flash delirium (this part sounds like searching for a hope when they sing) to me it means, like everything is so corrupt or abnormal, or insane, or all three, you just search something normal, something real to hold on. Something to base your reality. you think, at least the plants, if not changed when u were not looking, are still bending towards the light (to the good, to the real, to the rational, to the life, like they are supposed to do, which is sane), so it gives u hope that there's a path of normal. you have this hope inside somewhere that there's something to hold. also in the lyrics, it gives another idea that "you can't get a grip if there's nothing to hold." it's about feelings that u have difficulty to carry. being in difficulty to carry the sanity. at least the hope of sanity. everything is so much like a delirium, without approprite orientation to what's happening in reality. everything is done just to "show" it. and here some sense tells u to use your hearts for sake, at least we will ignite this place to get rid of this inhuman insanity. and the machine entry although it looks like a vagina or something, in a scene it also looks like the iris part of the eye. (inside u can see the brain?) so maybe the flashes blinding us, causing a delirium? just one guess. you say "I've got the backbone" back way to escape the gun.. really touches me. donno exactly why. but i think its about people who are senselessly proud about shitty things. "zero tears in their eyes" is how we lose track of what is really happening. we just do it, or watch it without appropriate feelings. nice nice tune. |

I love its album version too the part when he says when the walls bend with your breathin, the feeling to me is when you're in a room or somewhere like that, and the air in the room is so depressing, and isolated, and you feel bounded somehow, it will feel like you are trapped in. Kinda claustrophobic. So much that walls bend when you breathe in. it is so in your mind. Like there's no air left. No air from outside. and kind of the creativity block maybe. or an emotional block. or when u feel the world is all coming on you, weighing over you.. I can relate best to this song when I'm in a depressive mood, and I want to explode, I'm the reason why the alarms should be ringing. :) though its obvious it has political meaning too. I agree with Thom. This is the gloaming. When you kill&use&abuse people that are innocent, it will bring the bad. It will let the nightly creatures out of their dens. And the way the world is going, it will be the gloaming. If noone cares.. I like the hardness of the song. And the "hitting" kinda feeling of the rhytms. hitting and bouncing back. like to a wall. I felt very sad listening to the song but I couldn't give it some solid meaning. eaten by the worms, thank you so much, I realized why it was. Its a love song. I cant believe thom can write love songs still, he's married, not to mention. why my fairytale arab princess? because she's so impossible to be real? or so beautiful for him? I love to search context in his songs. as you say this song sounds like a sequel. one love but its so sad in a way. I feel to be a part of this. And I always criticize my behaviour and I feel like I might end up in this song. You know, I really feel sad for whatever thing is making him sad. I feel I'm wrong. When i first saw the video I could'nt exactly get the lyrics and i thought that it was like putting oneself as a parent to the place of one's child, second watch i thought that it was about the insecure adult of the twentyfirst century, and now what others mean is sensible but still i can't fully relate to the video. I also think it's about love which is unfortunately wasted, as you can't be with her/him but you still love. I loved this song. Amazing. To me it means like, he is totally "attracted" to the girl, and obsessed with.(sun, moon, stars) The girl thinks about "the meaning of life" maybe and such chaotic things and he thinks maybe her ideas are correct, why should I beleive myself not her? But he can't be totally sure. (Are you?) He thinks the wolrd is gonna end soon so he gives up thinking, and his ideas. He's so much in love with the girl, he's in fire. Reminds me of passion. When I listen to this song I think world is a more joyful place, I envy u boys, I think its in your nature... I have a more dominant depressed feeling most of the time. I think there's a "I dont belong here" feeling and me too I try to find my soul in the city but it seems to be somewhere else. The city can be very depressing and affecting to me sometimes. Weird but I can't get used to my own city even though I've lived here forever. And I also search a soul in the city, that's what I do while the long walks, wandering around alone, sitting and watching the passers by in a park, on the bus, in a shop, .... Sometimes I catch a little glimpse but it generally ends up in frustration. So to me this song helps me express the undirectable anger and frustration to my city, where's the soul in it? The song is real good, especially the lyrics but the melody in the "lights will..." part is great. To use "fix you" for someone, someone you love, I think it's so lovely... Even though I don't fully understand that part, I can get the feeling behind that. And I think it's really original. Ever anyone of you thought of "fixing" the loved one with a broken heart or soul? I think that's childishly, innocently, softly; perfect. Such break can occur when loving someone that breaks your heart by purpose, again and again, you can't take the equal love you give; in fact what u get is all negative. First of all when I first listened to this song , as usual, I didn't understand the lyrics completely and made up a little bit myself. It sounded like a love song to me rather than a "finding yourself and truth" song, still now what 'bonar' says sounds correct in a way, and a creative way to look through. In a way of love song I thought it would mean somethin like when you love someone, you are not sure of it, but you feel some kind of attraction, you're a little shy to him/her, you doubt telling the feelings to and inviting him/her to accompany your way. You are afraid of messing things up by saying sthg like that ; still you need to seize the chance, to know wht's going to happen and to have the chance to make the best thing to happen in your life. There are things that are puzzling your mind, forcing you taking a step backward. To deal with them you should have a beginning point that you completely and unconditionally believe. That thing is like a moment's feeling, like a glance of sthg, something that u feel the first and everytime that u see him/her. Something that's subconscious, that you can't tell exactly what it is, that making you real impatient in a way to spend your entire life with him/her(how long...). The hard thing is how to tell your real complex feelings in a world that words go flying in the speed of sound. You wish him/her to understand the way u feel someway, like how u realize your love within. This is wht I took from this song. I’m not a coldplay fan however I liked this song the first time I heard it. And the simple tunes in some coldplay songs; I think it resembles the feeling about the song , like how you record the events to your memory. Some simple tune sounds enough to make people understand how u feel. A correlation with an idea/event/feeling that you recorded to your brain. |

But I feel that it indirectly imposes the idea that everyone should have a wonderwall, I become sad when I don't have smo. to say my "wonderwall"... I always sing it wrong by purpose, as I first thought it to be: "....the world is on your feet and the fire in your heart is out..." Because many times I need to walk and walk and walk til the fire in my heart is out:) Somehow this version expresses me better. |

I think that "Here we are now, entertain us" points out the fact that it's becoming an entertainment world where people only care about it and can be satisfied less day by day. "She's overbored...." telling about a girl which can't even be excited (with ordinary entertainment) and the youth is trying to find sthg that makes them smile even if it's crazy and immoral. I think this song reminds me of religion, love and mostly the endless circle that we're serving ourselves. We are so desperate little creatures and there's one way out of this circle. Only way... Through the means of God. I'm not out of this cycle but that's my theory. To get out you should have a bigger love than yourself, divine love. But you never believe enough to succeed it. And one certainly needs help throughout this way. We're on our way to destruction of whole universe, according to my religion we had the last prophet. No more people left alive to help us directly but only God and the souls of that people can help us. We should believe that we can love and work for it. Still I love this song, I can guess why Thom disclaims writing it himself because it's expressing the soul of the universe, the subconscious of the universe. He and all people can always feel it, it's the music of the universe. Hope I can break this cycle and others can manage it too. I love this song. Perfect expression. The least feeling of love put in our hearts will be enogh for us to be sure that there's a way out, this feeling is the proof that we can survive and we deserve to. |

But to look from a different point of view doesn'it also remind you our "beautiful" occupation in people's lives as friends or someone you know?
