This is possibly one of the most beautifully composed, written and sung songs I've ever had the fortune to hear. I'm glad I'm the first to comment as since hearing this on the EMO Diaries #10 I've loved it and tried to get as many others to hear it. Awesome title too: The jus primae noctis was, in the European late medieval context, a widespread popular belief in an ancient privilege of the lord of the manor to share the wedding bed with his peasants' brides.But i think this is about cheating on your girlfriend and then having one last intimate moment. |

This reminds me of when me and my gf got together and some of our 'friends' were talking behind our backs cos they didnt want us too (cos they were jealous) and my so-called best friend even told my housemate that my gf had kissed him one night. when i told my gf about hearing about it she nearly puked cos she felt so betrayed, especially as she hadnt and she used to talk about me to my so called best friend. we were going to have words with him but decided to leave it knowing it would destroy him and it was too pathetic. it not so much saved our relationship but pushed us closer as we had our backs against the wall. anyway that probably doesnt make much sense but the song is so good. song meaning explainations dont have to be an exact examination of what it means, since songs elevate situations as singing elevates speech it works like that. for me, not you. i dont know. |

This song has hit me just as im really getting into incubus and just meant something to me more than i could believe. i know you can read too much into songs and how they relate to you but thats what music and (good) lyrics do, they get you closer to a thought or memory. well anyway im missing my girlfriend loads at the moment as she is currently in italy. but basically this just has everything in it which happened to me and carla. we met at Uni last christmas when we were both in long term relationships and at Durham we have formal dinners (Participants all in black and white) and i was always going to them 'expecting next to nothing' but suddenly she appeared 'in fullblown technicolor' and this one night we held hands which i didnt know what to make of (especially as i had a gf of 2years) but something was changing inside me. then i didnt see her until the next term but basically we both realised that we had feelings for each other after always talking and decided to take the plunge but still had to break up with our otherhalfs. it was crazy and we didnt know if it was right but it felt right so we went for it. 'If the world would fall apart,In a fiction worthy wind,I wouldn't change a thing,Now that you're here'. and we always said no regrets to this. this was at a time when i was pretty messed up and was cutting my arms and 'If only the lights would dim a little
I'm weary about eyes upon my scars' but she was the only one who really noticed and got me to talk about it. then one night she closed the door behind her at which point she made it clear that something was plling her in closer. perhaps a 'pink tractorbeam' or something. and then we've been crazy in love since and im still amazed that shes changed my life so much. ive learnt so much and life is great. and since couples usually enjoy sex this song means even more as its amazing now, its not just sex, sex with feelings is like no feeling on earth.which links to the song Stellar and the line 'Now show me the world as seen from the stars' and 'how do you do it?'.and anyway this song just seemed to say what i want to say to her now 'thank you for being that kind of girl'. thank you carla, for changing my life. thats my meaning to it! |

how has this album not been commented on at all - i cant understand how any fan can disrespect a band who continue to develop their sound.

the last four songs on this album are awesome as they just blend into one. i think its just about wanting to be alone for a bit cos everyone needs their personal space. the guitar is amazing like the strings are just hanging off loosely. a great song, great album and great band. thankyou. |

The imagery in this song is incredible, the vocals are haunting if you sing over the top of them and it gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it. What else can i say, when a song actually physically affects you its definately something special. I just did the breaking up of a 2 year relationship and this song it making me realise that it wasnt all a waste of time. |
