i dont think this song is about addictions, or about drugs he uses "needle to the vein" figuratively how nothing can quell the emptiness that seems to devour him but its his own head putting these memories, or thoughts reinforcing, and causing him to go mad and turn to drugs to try and "reason with his head" but they dont do anything for him NOT about drug use. its about a human condition dave would not write such a shallow song but you may interpret it that way to your situation |
