| Art Brut – Bad Weekend Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Such a good song, I love the gutar licks. Obviously as far as meanings go, it's just about being fed up with the endless categorization and discussion about genres, and I love it. | |

| I love the composition of this song, the way it starts off really quite and builds up to a beautiful crescendo, and it's got such amazing lyrics too. Love it. | |

| This really is an amazing song, and the perfect choice for the end of an album. I love the version on the live cd, the rawness of the guitars really bring so much emotion into the mix. | |

| The first time I heard this song was in April of last year, when I got the BtS live album for my birthday. This song immediately jumped out at me, and stayed in my head for the rest of that summer. I remember at some point I took the album to a house party, and around 2 in the morning someone put this track on the stereo quite quietly, and everyone that was in the room just stopped what they were doing and listened to the emotions pouring out of the speakers, it was amazing that this 1 song has turned so many of my friends into BtS fans. | |

I feel this song could be about the death of a partner, there's a lot of symbolism about death and mortality in the song. "I'd I'll drown my beliefs To have you be in peace" Quite simply, he'd do anything for the partner to rest in peace as it were. "I'll dress like your niece To wash your swollen feet" I believe I'm correct in saying that swollen feet is a common symptom after death, as the circulation stops in the body, so I think Thom is referring how he'd do anything just to see his love one more time. "Just don't leave, don't leave" Simple again, wishing his partner wasn't dead. "And true love waits In haunted attics" How he's waiting until he dies and sees his love again, and how she is waiting for him as well. "And true love wins On lollipops and crisps" Not sure how this fits in, but you've seen other people post about where the line came from. "I'm not living I'm just killing time Your tiny hands Your crazy kiss and smile" As the lyrics say, Thom's just killing time until reuniting with his lover, reminiscing about her "tiny hands, crazy kiss and smile". Of course, I could be wrong, but that's how I hear it. |
