Muse – Map of the Problematique Lyrics 19 years ago
did anyone else catch that the beginning bit of sound in the studio version is a sample of the music from the old Qix game for the nes and gameboy?

at least, i'm fairly certain.

Stellastarr* – Damn This Foolish Heart Lyrics 20 years ago
it reminds me of those times i see someone fantastically interesting i don't know from across the room at a club or a party, and i wanna go up and talk to them, but never do.
i just sit there, wanting to talk to them and to get to know them, my brain buzzed with the possibilities--"you can control your fate"--but instead i wait for my courage to grow, which i know never will... all the time hoping they won't leave before me.

The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics 20 years ago
I really think that the heart of the song is the bridge--"This bridge was written to make you feel smittener..."

This is an "I'm gonna make you jealous of my new love who can do the things that you can't do" kind of song. This really hits during the desperation of her vocals in the bridge. She really wants to be convinced that a real boy can be just as good and loving as her coin-op pinocchio.

My Chemical Romance – Cubicles Lyrics 21 years ago
I love MCR's love songs. I mean, who else writes love songs that take place in the workplace or in Dawn of the Dead?

I think this song is about how we waste so much of our time in "cubicles," working our asses off, when "We could be in the park and dancing by a tree/Kicking over blades we see/Or a dark beach with a black view/As pin-pricks in the velvet break our fall." It's about being part of the system. The person he's singing to freed her/himself from the office and moved on, while he can't.

God. What an excellent song.
