I don't think he is talking to his father as he says HIS bed is made and he wouldn't refer to the same person in both third and second person. I think the fist part is about his father dying (...maybe...maybe him). Now this part is REALLY far fetched and probably wrong but maybe he is singing to a brother or mother who walked out at his father dying and maybe didn't help out as much so he is proudly stating he is his father's son and the other is an unworthy runner. I love this song so much, one of my favorite of all times. I think it's about a lot of aspects o fhis relationship with someone. One of the aspects is that he has recovered a sense in life and appreciate himself more because of her. He also sings about how he's not sure he can spend a lot of time without her, (I hope I'm still alive next year). Sings about how she made him think things he didn't even remotely ponder in the past (inside your head...about). She was probably a good girl he turned bad (behind ur veil...underneath, and: you know that I would love to see you in a dress...undressed) The chorus Is probably abou how he lost (or loosing her attention) her and is trying to get her back. |

It's a nice song but I think it needs some tom. And from the little pieces I've heard from the AVA site looks like AVA is missing some Mark on their songs. When a great band like blink has been around for so long and then their members split first in BCR then in these two bands you realize what they bring musically to songs, not only in their instruments or voices but to the song as a whole. This particular song would be much better with some Tom advice, I just hope Carol can fill that hole on the next songs. Actually What I really hope for is for blink again but I guess that's not gonna happen... Another thing is I hoped those drums would have come earlier, kind of in the middle of the song not at the end. i dunno why I cuold just hear them coming in in my head. whatever I just like travis's drumming too much. |

This song is about everything and nothing. It's just a bunch of sentences with different meanings put together where he probably mixes most of his emotions at the time. There is some Lennon in the song, there is some don't live in the past in the song and there is some love related theme in the song also. It's brilliant how everyone can relate to the song in a different way and everyone is actually right about the meaning of it. And by the way just in case there is no "Sally" I read in an interview Noel just thought the name fitted perfectly in that part of the song and he needed to use some name anyway... |
