Hm. I wonder what Thomas Aquinas would think of being dragged into an argument over the validity of Catholicism while discussing the meaning of a song by an Irish punk rock band? I think he'd say "What do you mean, all my arguments were dismissed by later philosophers? Those rat bastards!" And then would begin the killing spree. Anyways. How 'bout that Flogging Molly song? |

Ol' Nick's a name for the devil, and it seems like he's just waiting for the singer to fall off the bridge - so he can get his claws on 'im. There seems to be a general feeling of hopelessness through the song, though. From getting roughed up by ... however you want that name spelled, or the beggar's regret, or Mrs. Moore's husband. |
