Every time I hear this song I find new meaning in it. This song has helped me get through many dark times. "And I can't believe I have to bang my head against this wall again." I'd agree with discgo that Shannon's wall was his drug problem. When I listen to the song and I hear that line, I feel tears well up as I think about whatever wall I have been beating my own head against lately (though sometimes I just wonder what was going on with Shannon when he wrote this). But as soon as I hear "But the blows they have just a little more space in between them, gonna take a breath and try again" I feel like there is always hope no matter how badly I have fucked up. This song keeps telling me never to quit. When I'm feeling depressed I listen to this song over and over, and it never fails to inspire me. We miss you Shannon. |
