| U2 – Ultraviolet (Light My Way) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love this song, it has almost a cry for help about it, yet seems so strong at the same time. The line "There's a silence that comes to a house/where no one can sleep" has such a creepy and yet illogical feel to it. Its almost evil, but there's something so intreguing about it. | |

I can't believe no on has commented on this song. I only heard it by chance because i'm a U2 fan and wanted to listen to Bono's other projects, but this song is gorgeous! It gave me goosebumps the first time i listened to it and i couldn't actually believe it was Bono's voice. The way the two voices work directly over the other singing different lyrics is amazing; it really is such a beautifully crafted song. Bono's range is incredible (probably why i couldn't believe at first that it was his voice). Lyrically, the song has a very spiritual feeling. Im not sure what it is written about although i could guess that it i about a relationship breaking down. Personally, i love the lines "Begin again - Bono, (Heavy in my heart - Clannad) As the storm breaks through (Believe the light in you - Clannad) So the light shines in you -Bono Without color, faded and worn - Bono torn asunder in the storm - Clannad and Bono" Sorry if that seems confusing, but the way the voices work over the other, almost in competition seems so beautiful to me. I guess this could represent the argument between a couple in a failing relationship, both trying to argue their side. I don't know what others think, but i had to make a comment on this song, 'cause is gorgeous! |

| U2 – Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own Lyrics | 21 years ago |

I agree! This song is beautiful. U2's perfomance of it recently at the Grammy's was very emotional. At the beginning he made a powerful dedication to his dad, and said that "(his father had) a beautiful tenor voice. I'd like to think that when he passed away, he gave that to me" Hence the line, "You're the reason why the opera is in me" He also said "I wish i got to know him better". Which is shown in the line "If we weren't so alike, you'd like me a whole lot more". I think that the raw emotion in this song emphasises Bono's pain at his father's death, but at the same time it is a very consoling song, with such passion. One of the lines which gives me goosebumps is "Let me take some of the punches for you tonight". It seems so much more powerful when you realise Bono is talking about his father and emphasises the love and bond shared between the two, dispite the fact their relationship was rocky "We fight all of the time". Bono has commented on their relationship, claiming it was a typical fighting Irish father-son relationship, yet this song shows the love felt. Its just simply beautiful. Something easy to relate to on many levels. At the end of the performance at the Grammys, Bono sang a short version of 'No regrets', "There's no regrets, Don't want you back, We'd only cry again, Say goodbye". At this point the audience went almost dead, it was beautiful. |
