if you carefully listen to the breezy sound at 2:47 and at 2:57, you can actually figure that it's saying: "as far as the animals can go far away" It's hard to decipher (and would have never figured it out myself) but it's a good thing mtv pointed it out back when it was in rotation =) |

This one's brilliant. ^^ i hate madonna and all that she stands for and it's good that someone made a quasi- cheeky, rock-ey version of this catchy song about f*cking (that i could like.) As one blog i stumbled into puts it, it's "aka theme for Sogo short time" lolz Love the serious, limited, unwimpy vocals of this rendition! and the growling (most likely) humbuckered guitars. .. One note is that "the youth" (best known for multong bakla) used to sing CFY too in their live performances back in the 90's, now we dunno if spongecola got the idea of doing this because of them |

wow. i'm the first poster for this song. (and most likely will be the only post for for a long long while.) i just remember this song especially because a girl and i danced at prom with this song on. (she and i became the prom king and queen incidentally) it has a nice, bare tune to it that i managed to guess out of my guitar. |

all i know is that this is used in the film "the professional" in the scene where the then tomboyish natalie portman is wearing an undershirt and is cleaning leo's apartment. She's training herself to be a "cleaner" but that's a euphemism for a hitman actually. She must be 11, 12 then. Children are for the most part asexual- well in the context of the movie, u could say Venus As A Boy is about somone as ravishing as Natalie Portman still being a little kid. Guys, do yourself a favor and watch this kickass luc besson film. he's the only director who can make an action film without any annoying elements of ego and hype (cough* cough* go to hell jerry bruckheimer) |

you gotta love the GGD for songs like this... of course they made songs like these (naked, and ain't that unsual are another) before they they became a bunch of sel... oops nevermind ^_^ I mean come on. The full sound, and lyrics (that reads like thoughts of someone who mull over & hangs out too much in his room alone) is much enjoyable than gutterflower's polished commercial sound and (almost) cliche lyrics. dizzy up the girl was a good compromise between the two. |

i love this song. the lyrics are gorgeously imperfect (it's not the craftiest verses rzeznik ever penned and you could almost sense the bouts of writer's block in this one.) It's as imperfect and sincere as the letter i wrote to a girl with the same name back in high school. (God, i made so many drafts yet i never really managed to write down exquisitely how much I loved her) I got to know her when this song was on the radio and hence i'll always remember her with this song.. ...when everything's made to be broken... i just want you to know who i am... |

all my favorite bands have these kind of songs (smashing pumpkins has "today" for example) - these jumpy, very melodic tunes that have just the opposite/unhappy/alienated lyrics. The distorted guitars really rocks. as if the song really celebrates being disconnected (even when you try so hard) to relate to other people and perhaps be accepted... anybody here familiar with the theory "Maslow's hierarchy of (human) needs"? ...To get in touch with other people is not only an impulse but a necessity and oh so merely human... |

Well "There are too many mediocre things in life and love shouldn't be one of them" so... hat's of to this heartfelt george michael song. yes, why just a few entries? =) (perhaps it's just that james taylor belong to a different generation.. but i'm glad that i discovered it, along with leonard cohen.) i was introduced to this song by a terrific folk singer here - noel cabangon and the plaintive words struck me. I usually have a hard time memorizing lyrics but i got this in just a few listenings... well said on the comments above... |
