I interpreted this song a bit differently. I see it as about a girl who keeps falling in love and getting hurt. "Don't build your world around volcanoes melt you down." Don't build your life around love, it will only ruin you. Unreturned love, undying love, lost love. "And what I am to you is not real." You love him, but you are nothing to him. You are not real. "And what I am to you, you do not need." You are not needed. You are an outside admirer, an innocent bystander..... "..for what I give to you it's just what I'm going through." This is HER pain. "What I really need is what makes me bleed but like a new disease, Lord she's still too young to treat.. " What she needs is love, and love is what's made her broken. She's too young to see love realistically--to put back her idealized expectations, the romantics' view. I may be wrong. This is a bit different from how everyone else has interpreted the song, but it's probably because it's what I'm going through now.. . |

to add to Redline03GT's comment about how "chevelle wouldnt write about government, its politics and its BORING." i completely agree. i mean, exactly HOW many anti-bush, anarchist, etc. songs are out there? yep. alot! the topic is getting old. anti-bush/gov songs have public appeal nowadays. thats why they are written. what has to be said about the gov HAS been said. music is not needed to rearticulate such an overdone and overexaggerated topic, especially music by a band like Chevelle. |

I'm suprized no one has posted anything for this song--its simply amazing! I'm guessing its about a woman who has been disloyal to her lover, and comes back to him after realizing her feelings about him were real. She regrets all the mistakes she made, and proclaims her love to him. |
