Look caffeinerock, linkin park might not be your particular favorite style, but you have to get through you head that you are obviously not the type of person who likes whiny music. The thing is, lots of people do. I personally dislike linkin park, and really dilike people who call them metal, but there's no persuading someone that the music they like sucks. Lot's of people don't have the common sense not to broadcast their feelings and think someone will care. But, people with specific musical taste like you just have to ignore bands that you don't agree with. But screaming on a forum that they suck is just immature, I know, I've done it before. But looking back on those old posts, I realize how unfounded some of my arguments were and how needlesly pissed off I was about nothing. Just keep in mind that your tastes are probably not the majority's tastes, and there's no changing that. |

Thats the real problem, a denial of freedom. This country could be stopping a thousand sick sadistic murders in the time it takes a bull-headed conservative and an equally stubborn liberal to argue whether abortion is right or wrong. Reading over the song, I don't feel the same white-hot nuclear fury I felt when I first saw it. Now I see P.O.D.'s efforts here as simply another move in a coimpetitive cycle. Just as I make a pro-choice post, they write a pro-life song. They have as much right to write abortion is murder as I do to say it's not. At least they have some conviction. |

I understand that abortion is extraordinarily gruseome and can really seem disturbing, but I guess I just don't get bothered by it the way others do. In my opinion, christians have no right to lecture people about killing and morality, considering it was them who are directly responsible for the crusades and the Spanish inquistion. Dont talk to me about abortion against god's will when it was priests who introduced the consept to begin with. Keep in mind that christianity has done worse things, like drawing and quartering babies and innocent women. No artist, in my opinion has the right to accuse a population of murder after their religon, which they so proudly tout, is responsible for some of the most horrid forms of death imaginable, and is hypocritic enough to call itself the "moral majority". either way, lovecraft was a genius (credits to all the other mythos contribuators) and its good to see a band semi-accuratly convey the message behind the mythos:
Mankind is a pitiful wreck, possibly even a construct of its own imagination, but more importanly, utterly insignificant to the workings of the greater universe. WE are a speck, a useless, self-destructive (therefore decadent) piece of cosmic shit that quite possibly was never meant to eke out a miserable existance. It is our failings that preven knowledge, our sanity that prevents understanding, and our despicable weakness that warrants our wholsale elimination. What i take from lovecraft is his philosophy about mankind's issues and shortcomings, not the barely tracable connections to vague forms of pagan tradition. Lovecraft doesn't put a slimy tentacled mask on Satan, he simply exposes the reality: Satan is a construct of man, and therefore, as superficial as God. Pure existance is the esssence of life, not limitations we enable. Cthluhu Dawn is quick to point out though, this kind of lifestyle tends to usher in minor problems....

The funny thing about the name cthulhu is that if you really read into some of Lovecrafts really obscure writing, he points out that cthulhu has a completely non-phonetic pronunciation, more like a cross between a series of yelps and a groan, instead of an instantly likeable name with way too many consonants. |
