| Arcade Fire – Neighborhood #2 (Laika) Lyrics

I don't really have much of an idea of what this song is exactly about, although I definitely lean toward a more literal interpretation - that it's about two of the band members' older brother. The first time I read these lyrics I could see it happening in my head because I have watched these kinds of things unfold before my own eyes, and these lyrics very accurately (and darkly, but beautifully) depict them.
The only thing I really would assert is that the disco lights part at the end is, as someone has already mentioned, a youth's innocent perception of serious and unfortunate events happening around them. I definitely don't think it has anything to do with neighbors enjoying the scene or gossiping about his brother; I don't think there are many neighborhoods that would enjoy something like that. Another way to put it is that the artist effectively painted those events with a very dark and almost disturbing brush, by taking something innocent sounding such as dancing in disco lights and using it to describe an episode of domestic violence. The thought of a younger child having to witness something like that in his own house is, to me anyway, pretty sad. |

| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics

Oofus, if you don't want people to debate abortion under a song titled "abortion is murder" then take the song down.
cylent watcher, i understand where you're coming from because i used to share the exact same viewpoint. i'm a christian and I do not want you to go to hell, and any true christian wouldn't. but just because some lunatics have killed people under the banner of christianity in the past shouldn't permit people to kill babies before they've been born. My best friend was conceived from rape and adopted, and my roommate was conceived from an extramarital affair. I love them both a lot and they've impacted my life immensely. I've seen videos and photos of abortion, and i will tell you that it's not an easy thing to watch without crying or throwing up, if you have any kind of heart. In case you didn't know, it is a very profitable practice for doctors and clinics. Personally I will pray until the day that I die that the supreme court will overturn Roe v. Wade, if it doesn't happen sooner. In the meantime I am glad that there are artists like P.O.D. with the guts to say what they know is right. |

I love the guitar solo in this song. It's such a sad sounding song though, i kind of wonder if maybe something happened to his mom? It'd be cool if he wrote a song about his dad too. hehe. |

| Jack Johnson – The Horizon Has Been Defeated Lyrics

I don't think it's just the environment, it's he's saying we've discovered almost everything and conquered every horizon, and we've gone so far with technology that it's now starting to hurt us more than it's helping us, both us as the human race and the physical world. |

i play this song on my guitar all the time so i'm pretty familiar with the lyrics and i have thought about them before. Wowy, i really think that you are on to something there and that was what i thought for a very long time. However i think it's also very possible it's about surfing... describing the waves, etc. It does seem wierd but he is an artistic guy who loves to surf, and people who surf man, i grew up around them and they can be very right brained. The song just sounds so sexual though... |

man that is kind of harsh, but i think he is right in a way. it's just about him trying to get this girl to hang out with him and she always flakes out on him. i can definitely relate, i hate it when girls are like that. |

These lyrics are really powerful, especially if you know what's gone down in that country. God has such a heart for those people, and I believe we'll see a major outpouring of his spirit there in the years to come, especially right before Jesus comes back. |
