Thanks to eskimo joe for writing such an awesome "sarah song", I've finally found one that I like! To me, it sounds like he's talking about this girls fight with depression or something and there's nothing he can do. He says, "you're so shy" and the mention of the "razors in your heart" sounds pretty ominous. "emergency", sounds as if he's struggling to help her with this. I'm not sure about the lines about it being a "long time ago" though.... Awesome song either way. |

This is an incredible song. So sad, yet hopeful at the same time. I think he's talking about innocence or being "cleareyed" and how that get's lost as you grow up, "there is no blue sky" and "some things i wish I'd never seen/had never been". And now he's met someone who gives him back feelings of certainy and innocence, "now i only see you". He wants the person to, "blind me with love" and erase all the bad things he's seen and experienced. I initially thought he was talking about romantic love to a woman he's met or something, but the more I think about it, he could be singing to his daughter. Does Glen Phillips have a daughter? Either way it's beautiful, reminds me of some of the awful things I've seen in my short life and gives me a bit of hope that I can retain my childish innocence still. |

I think that a lot of you are right about this song being about a father and a drug addicted song, but I also think that it can have other meanings. It reminds me of a time I went through with a really close friend of mine who had a suicide plan. She didn't go through with it, but she still struggles everyday. I just wish I knew, "how to save a life", and I feel hopelessly inadequate and hurt that I'm not enough to keep her here, even though I know that it's not about me. Also, the part when it says, "pray to god he hears you, and pray to god he hears you", the first time I heard it, it sounds like it goes, "pray to god he hears you and I pray to god he hears you", with that extra 'I' in there. Just wanted to say that this song gave me a sense of not being so alone. |

I lvve the fact that Missy's an Aussie, we need more artists. She's an awesome singer and songwriter. She's so incredibly honest in all her music. This song is about having hurt the one person in the world that you can't live without, and wanting everything to go back to how it was. This is my favourite song on the album too:) |

This song is a beautiful and moving piece of music., and one of the best on the album. Maybe it is about a breakup, but it makes me think that perhaps someone he loves has died. "can i find a place within to live my life without you", they're such sorrowful lyrics. Either way, it's a really intense and moving song. |
