I love this song. George was brilliant- rest in peace, my friend. George inspired me to play sitar.
MrKite1, good point. One good trip per person would do the world some good. I also think everyone should smoke one reefer per day. Think of it, everyone would be so relaxed, there would be no war, no crime, etc. |

I remember when this song came out. It's fantastic. I had taped the programme when it came on TV, and I called my father whom I hadn't seen in ages and we watched it together. When the song came on I got somewhat emotional- it made me realise that John was really gone. The beatles gave me so much joy as a child, and when John died I was devestated. |

This song has a great effect on people- me and a few mates were watching Yellow Submarine while we were stoned, and when this song came on, my friend Steve said "they're lonely..?" And then two tears leaked out. It really tears at your heart.
I saw an interview where the Beatles were being hounded because people thought Day tripper was about a prostitute, and Norwegian wood was about a lesbian. After Paul said "we just wanted to write songs about prostitutes and lesbians", the subject changed. A few questions later, they were asked what the song Elenor Rigby was about. John quickly answered "two queers." A classic John moment. |

This song was the result of a 12 minute jam session. They took the best bit from it and made a song. That's why it wasn't just "Lennon/McCartney", they all contributed to it. |

dan0311, I think you know what you are talking about. Though there is no way we can ever really know what this song is about, it's still great fun to bicker over it, isn't it? We are doing just what Lennon wanted, reading too deeply into his songs. I must say, not all songs have to be about drugs, but this one probably is. The only way to really know would be to ask Mr. Lennon (god rest him), and we can't do that, and he probably wouldn't tell the truth anyway.
My theory on this song is that the picture story might be true, and when John realised it could stand for LSD, he wrote the song. When you are on acid, for a little while things will seem normal, then everything goes mad. In the song, there is the slow bit and then it says "and you're gone..." then it goes louder into the chorus.
None of us could ever really know whether it is about drugs or not, and as for myself, I am not sure. I think it is definately possible that it is, but it is also possible that it is not.
Listen to it while you are stoned, it's fantastic. |

This song was inspired by some old song in which the guy goes to the girl's house drunk and knocks and knocks and thinks she's blowing him off, when it turns out he went to the wrong house. |
