i know its really not about this, but this song could be related to molestation (or rape in a differnt way then to her mom). like always trying to clean herself of how spoiled she has become and finding it futile. the jack part being that part... and everytime she runs from it it comes back... iunno i can relate to that... and i do understand that the "i'm half my mother's daughter" part wouldnt make since unless it was the father doing the molestation which obviously isnt the case if he wasnt even there. but even interpretations that never where intended to be applied to the song can be right? |

seriously any mention of drug use makes me feel sick, so obviously strong drugs like cocaine make me feel very shitty. yeah its none of my business but i hate to think he's still on it. but as for the song, i like it tons... i think the friend he mentions that got ahead died. since they were hurring to their deaths and all. jeez this song makes me emotional. reminds me of my dad in some ways... hes a heavy drug user/alcoholic as well. |

i see two former lovers. maybe when they were innocent teens. and now hes still a little boy while she's grown up. now she is brave. she used to be shy. its sad that every single song has to be very deep. i mean thats great that conor has a nice perspective, and i love that, but not everything has to be that way all the time. i reminds me of a (better!) version of lover i dont have to love. and i love that song. so yeah. |

i think this song is about apathy taking over you towards someone you used to love deeply. it maybe have been cause by what she says in this quote: "By the door, you said you had to go Couldn't help me any, anymore. This I saw coming long before So I kept on staring out the window." she knew instincly that he would leave her eventually so she simply stoped careing. became distant. i kind felt this way when this song first came out too! not fun at all. but this song really seemed to echo my situation. |

| without the influence of my friends i just thought this song was about conor's desire for salvation as well. i thought he just wanted to be freed by the heavyness of life... well my friends all thought it was about freedom from life, but in a suicidal sense. i'm much happier believing my original oppionion though. with that, this song is very comforting ^_^ | |
