I cant believe that no one's brought up the uniformity in the children during the "we don't need no education" line. They're chanting in. This shows conformity. But really, I don't think that that's what this song is all about. I believe it's, like others have said, about a student named Pink Floyd (Roger Waters) who goes through a horrible school. It's not saying that children don't need education. It's saying they don't need THAT TYPE of education; the kind where they get bullied and abused by the teachers. Back to the conformity part. The kids here are trying to rebel, using the double negative and all. But even in rebelling from their bad education, they're still submissive to it by being completely in unison. It's like saying, even if you're sick of living this way, it's going to stay with you forever. It's another brick in Pink's social wall. |
