Captain Feral is right. It's hate, not have. You have me would be (although my grammar may be dodgy) "du hasse mich" - although, in german the ss is represented as symbol similar to a B but hate is "du hasst mich" - it's a slightly different word with slightly different spelling, but it makes for a better song |

| Eels – I Need Some Sleep Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think someone in the Shrek crew must be a fan of the Eels, their surprisingly upbeat Beloved Monster was in the first film. This is a great song, simple, enchanting and passionate. I listen to it a lot when I get sick of yr12 homework | |
| Eels – Novocaine For The Soul Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i don't think it's about sex or death. it's just about E having a lot of pain in his life and he needs something to sooth the pain before he sputters out, sputter out, just being cracking I suppose | |

well, I just remember what the Freddie Mercury impersonist said at a Queen tribute band concert said - "a song full of creatures of the night and wickedness" well, it was probably nothing like that, but whatever he said, it was cool! |

I particuarly like this line "how I'll never be anything I hate" It says to me that even though they've made it into mainstream 'rock' (rock doesn't always mean ROCK in mainstream music) they'll always be true to themselves and their music. it may just be a personal interpretation, but I like it |

Well, reading some of the lyrics, some of it does sound like Christ, but I have another theory about this song that just came to me the moment I heard it...... This song is about the X-Men, you know, the comic/TV show/film. stick with me here. because, when I listen to the background melody, you know, the backing ditty that begins at 33 seconds, it reminds me of the X Men theme. But more to it, I think it's specifically about Jean Grey and her lover. Because, if I remember right, Jean Grey - one of the Xmen - would suck the power out of people when she touched them. This was made a point of in the both films where Jean kissed someone and ended them up in hospital. Thus: You see her You can't touch her You hear her You can't hold her You want her and You can't have her You want to But she won't let you Because if Jean's lover (I can't remeber which character that was) was to touch her in any way, he would die. It could always be about Jean Grey, with a Jesus reference thrown in. |
