i agree with forensics, i don't think the 'line' in the title is about cocaine. the circle, which does not allow progress is a representation of a vicious cycle, where someone always ends up where they begun, not better than they were before. but as a line, a person can improve from their situation. i think at the beginning, conor's friend, or whoever the character in the song may be is in a circle, stuck in an addiction, unable to get out. by the end, the person becomes a line, where he/she is able to get better and move on. |

i don't really like emmylou's voice in the song, but the contrast the two voices has just makes the song that much better. it sounds raw and stuff, and i like that.
