I agree with the lyric changes.. Anyhoo.. the chorus is basically you spinning yourself around in circles till you get dizzy and fall down.. metaphorically speaking, you keep going in circles, worrying too much, you don't progress any and end up on the ground. My favourite line/verse is in the second: She says she wants to marry me She says she wants a baby Its not easy when you're scared That hits home hard.. |

| I think the "escape" is more of a mental one.. the said person takes his/her mind elsewhere to escape his/her problems or what is or is fixing to happen to them.. kinda thinking of a better place, anything to keep you from the reality you're going through.. away of dealing with trauma.. thats the basic feel I get from it.. no need for an actual event play-by-play its a song written as a song.. the feeling is more important than the lyrics.. at least in this case. | |

Ahh.. this is bugging me.. there's a few errors in the lyrics.. mainly the last chorus.. "never had words"?? umm no.. Easy.. you take the word "shattered" and you tag the word "ghoul" at the end.. tadaaa.. Houdini! Honestly this is way too much crap to go through and interpret every little bit.. but from the looks of it, it seems to be sort of an apollogy to a loved one for maybe doing something or saying something that hurt them.. Most notably in this line: "I saw the light It's magnified By all the lenses made of tears you cried Don't fall apart Stay tied at least Just keep a diagram of all your seams" Which is saying.. he doesn't want to see her cry.. he asks her to tell him the things that hurt her "tear her apart" (give him a diagram of her seams so he can avoid ripping her apart/ the area of things that she's weak against (seams) so he won't do them again) And through various other lines of the song he's saying she's blowing what he did/said way out of proportion.. blah.. I have a headache.. BTW: what chemical/substance does Fe2 + S2 make.. what is it, iron and sulfur? Iron Sulfite? Fool's Gold? ahhhh more headache.. |

Its not so complicated if you analyze it a little.. Can be a little sadistic if you interpret it as him stabbing them after he finds out.. "A knife edge (A knife edge through you) A catatonic knife edge (I'll see right through you) But any interference (A knife edge through you) Will be met with my heartache (I'll see right through you) A knife edge (A knife edge through you) (I'll see right through you)" This is saying "you stabbed me in the heart/broke my heart" and if you go the sadistic path, it can be seen as "since you stabbed me in the heart with what you did, I'm going to really stab you in the heart" The electric car part is.. I dunno.. just singing.. or maybe the "other" person drove an electric car which he sees around the corner of her house and he's basically mocking it.. |

What the hell are you talking about.. they never broke up.. they just took a break to do side projects.. and if you haven't noticed they're coming out with an album probably by the end of the year if I remember correctly (silverchair is).. getting sick for nothing.. As for this song.. its one of my all time favourites.. really hits home cause I'm still going through anorexia.. it never quite goes away.. it wasn't not eating to look skinny.. I just couldn't eat.. I'd get sick.. and I started eating less and less because of it, just watching my image decrease over the days.. if I didn't die from it I was going to kill myself anyways.. so this song will always hit a special note with me |

| Pronounced Le Deux Mach(like mach 5) ina.. not machine-a like most think it is.. same with the album.. The Le Deux Machina is an actual thing.. it was used in ancient greek plays as a sort of climax to the play when they couldn't wrap up all the questions.. and give a proper resolution.. so they used this crane (don't think modern. think rope and like a pulley system) and dropped an actor from the "heavens" who would portray Zeus or another feeble greek god to solve the conflict. Played off their prayers to the gods to always help them so they used it in the play to help.. in this matter the crowd could relate (not so much nowadays) so it worked well.. This early special fx. was the writers easy way of hiding the fact that they couldn't manage a proper ending in the rush to write the play. So the crowd didn't notice due to the oohs and ahhs.. of a contraption that was virtually new and unheard of.. In close to modern times it can be seen as inspiration to the contraptions people use in movies and the like to make actors fly, etc.. Well anyways thats what Le Deux Machina is.. so now you know what billy was thinking.. kinda.. | |

| The whole album means so much to me.. to the point where its hard to bear listening to it anymore cause its the only album ever that never fails to rip me apart inside. Too many memories tied to it I suppose. If I ever came close to crying to a song it was through this album. As for this song, its no different. Beautiful atmosphere, brooding chords, just an amazing arrangement. The thing that proabably gives you that strange feeling (almost hopeless) inside is the droning of the chords with its alternate tuning. (the 3rd chord to be precise.. or if you count the repeats of use of the same two previous chords then its the 5th chord) Very reminiscant of In the arms of sleep, especially instrumentally-wise. | |

I'm not so sure all of the lyrics are correct.. I always thought the beginning was "Hey, Silence/silent.. You were my violent star in my life" and the the chorus.. I always thought he said "The lonely preacher screams" which if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense pertaining to the Machina story. Even moreso if you watched the animated series, the scene where this song plays it fits very well.. very beautiful song and very fun to play on guitar. Nice use of atmosphere. |

I'm almost positive its "turn away from eye" If not that then its "I" .. definately not "turn away from light" It makes more sense this way being eye, its the title and what its suggesting is him turning away from others and/or their ideas.. which could also imply to his "lover" at the time.. It could go either the relationship path or the religion one.. or maybe a little of both if you open your mind a little.. but like always it can mean what ever the hell you want it to.. |
