Oh yeah and that line "Was it God who chokes in these situations?" Also mentions the title of the cook, "Choke" lol, so its basically asking the questions, the leader character who fakes choking every night, is he the son of God or not? Ok now im done. |

I think that- if it IS another Palahniuk referencing song- its more like "Choke". Theres just certian parts that remind me of it... the references to God like "Was it God who chokes in these situations?" is like when the main character thinks that he might be the son of Jesus. The references to the hospice match with how he visits his mother in her dementia hospice, and she is "on first name basis" with who he thinks is the top physician there. He also teases the patients and plays along with them, thinking he is "a cut above the rest". "Alone in this bed" is maybe a reference to the fact he is trying to quit his sex addiction. "she never fixes this" is a reference to his disfunctional relationship with his mother. Also, the title "Nails for breakfast and tacks for snacks" reminded me of the fact that he would go out to eat every night and "choke" on his food so that someone would "save his life". It also reminded me of his little encounter where he got a ball stuck up his ass n everything backed up into his gut and was very painful! Ah well theres my insight. |

yeah i agree with the idea that it fits in with the 'corpses of a thousand evil men' concept album thing, but i think that this song has its own stand alone meaning aswel. even from just the title, you can tell its about two people who love each other so much that they would die with each other but at the same time they are destroying each other (thats kinda shown by 'but THIS TIME i mean it'). its like hes trying to get her to give him another chance because they love each other so much even if they do destroy each other at the same time. the other interpretation is obv the one that fits in with the concept album... they are totally in love and get gunned down. he dies. devil tells him to bring him the corpses of a thousand evil men and he'll get the girl back... and so on he goes into TCFSR |
