Wow, how is it possible that no one's commented on this song yet? One of the best songs ever written. Anyway, it's about the apathetic feeling among America's youth when it comes to politics. This song was written almost 20 years ago, but is even more relevant today. The "Washington will burn with them" lines at the end refer to the fact that we've fought world wars before, and with the proliferation of nuclear arms around the world, a third one would destroy us all. |

atthedrivein, do you really think rage was only about capitalism? how many benefit shows did they play? every band on major labels and most bands on semi major labels make plenty of money, but most of them don't do as much as rage did to give back and actually support the causes they sing about. every rage album had the addresses and contacts for all the causes that they supported. you could say (and you'd be right) that most kids who listened to them didn't do anything to support these causes, but if any of them did, then rage accomplished their goal. while most "alternative" bands in the 90's sang about nothing in particular, rage were able to get kids to at least think about politics, and while they did get rich from it, they at least got rich doing something they belived in. bands like at the drive in, anti-flag, and other bands of the sort are doing fine as far as money goes. |
