The Cure – Alt.End Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I interpreted it in a similar way to Samantha and rvb8118 too, and this song does indeed voice the exact feeling I have in regard to the idea. Robert has said in interviews that he doesn't believe there is life after death, and I think in this song he is saying he doesn't want there to be. "yeh it's a big bright beautiful world" is, I think, a reference to heaven / the afterlife, and "six billion beautiful faces" is a reference to the fact that you will be reunited with everyone you've known and loved, however this doesn't convince Robert because he's "seen them all before". With the lines "No this is not about running out on you" and "it's not about giving up on you", Robert explains that it's not because he's depressed or in despair, but he just doesn't want "another go around.. etc" - he doesn't want to go through life all over again, because he's done it once and he's happy with what he's achieved this time round - "for all my dreams came true". |

Atreyu – The Crimson Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Grunteton has got it right. Yes, the song has many references to vampires, but it uses vampires as a metaphor. It's not saying he's actually a vampire, but it just likens the pain and the horrific things he feels he's done to what a vampire might experience. He's changed a lot recenty, or over time, and he's made some big mistakes along the way. He's done something terrible and he doesn't know how he's going to live with it, but he's realised that he's just going to have to get on with life, try and put it behind him, do his best to make things right and just get on with the future. I really don't think it's to do with a specific instance with a girl or literally becoming a vampire, it's just a lesson about life really.. and that's how it ties in with 'growing up'. |
Rage Against the Machine – Bombtrack Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I know it's annoying when people stray from the meaning of the song and instead jabber on about the band or the riff, but I just have to say that the guitar for this is ACEYS and I just love playing it. I'm so glad my guitar teacher taught me this, I love it. |
Bleed the Dream – Solace Lyrics | 19 years ago |
WANKER @ tsucol - this is the third time today I've come across you dissing bands. If you don't like them, why bother? I can't believe you judged Bleed The Dream, without ever having heard them, just because someone called 'Thursday12' likes them. And I was reading your idiot comment on Billy Talent a minute ago. WHAT IS THE FUCKING POINT? Fair enough if you don't like these bands, but if you don't have anything constructive or even sensible to say, don't say anything. All it does is make you look like a twazzock. |
Billy Talent – Standing In The Rain Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Here's a more indepth interpretitation, for anyone who would like it...but it's pretty easy really. "My head, it hurts Each day it's getting worse" --She's really screwed up, and she knows it, and the more she goes over it in her mind, the more screwed up her head gets, and every day, with all the shit she goes through, it just gets worse, and worse, and worse.-- "My looks and smile Have now become my curse Tight lips, red skirt.." --most people would love to be beautiful, but she probably wishes she was an ugly bint, because the way she looks is what makes dirty old men want to abuse her-- "Big car, little man My lover for a fee" --is saying that all these guys who think they're hard with all their bling and their big pimpmobiles are really just little, insecure runts inside-- "So if you see me will you just drive on by? Or will I catch the twinkle inside your eye? And if you want me then I guess I want you Oh pretty baby how could you?" --it's just describing how she's standing there, presenting herself, waiting for an offer, and all the time she's weeping inside-- "Standing in the rain Milk carton mugshot baby Missing since 1983" --In some places, they put photos of missing people on the sides of milk cartons, so obviously this is about the photo of her, reminding us she is lost and homeless-- "Standing in the rain 20 years of dirty needles Raindrops runnin' through my veins" --this is where it tells us she's a heroin adicct-- I could go on and explain the rest, but I can't be bothered and it's really easy to understand anyway. One line I like is: "No sun, my room Has now become my herse" --where for most people their room is a safe, private place, this is where she is horribly exploited by strange men every night-- |
Alkaline Trio – Radio Lyrics | 19 years ago |
okay there's way too many comments on this song already, but I just can't resist. I absolutely love this song, it's my favourite Alk3 song. I love the riff as well, I am always playing that on guitar, almost sub-concsiously. I was gonna explain it, but meow's done a good enough job already. And I agree with whoever it was (someone much further up) who said they gotta respect a band who can sing 'shakin like a dog shittin razorblades' and make it sound serious. It's true though, alkaline trio have a lot of lyrics like that, but they manage to make it brilliant and deep. It's pure genius!! |
Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is one of the first emo songs I heard, and it's what really got me into emo. normally, emo and happy don't tend to go together, but Carraba went against that and he did it SO FUCKING WELL!!! I love this song sooo much! And what's really nice about it, is that it isn't full of complicated metaphors. Don't get me wrong, metaphors are brilliant, good metaphorical songs can be pure genius and i love them. But sometimes it's nice to have a break and listen to a good song that you can understand straight off without having to really think about it. And it's still deep and personal and beautiful, even though it's so simple. love it. Enough said. |
HIM – The Sacrament Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is a beautiful love song, it's one of my favourite HIM songs. It is about a perfect, pure, beautiful religion, what religion should really be about, and this perfect religion, is love. I'll try and explain some bits of it: --"I know my church is not of silver and gold"-- He is saying that in the religion of love, you don't need a big fancy church, you don't need expensive shrines and relics and things. It's the sentiment that matters, not how pretty material things are. --"it's glory lies beyond judgement of souls, the commandments are of consolation"-- It is not judgemental, there are no strict commandments to follow, and no risk of being damned to hell for all eternity. It is not about guilt, it is about passion and trust and warmth. --"You know our sacred dream won't fail The sanctuary tender and so frail The sacrament of love The sacrament of warmth is true The sacrament is you"-- A sacrament is "The outward and visible part of religion consisting of various ceremonies, words and symbolisms, producing an invisible action by the Holy Spirit that confers grace on an individual." By saying that she is the sacrament, he is saying that she is the center of this beautiful thing, she symbolises warmth and trust and love. The song is basically saying that his love is the greatest, most perfect, pure and wonderful thing ever, and she is what makes it so. |
My Chemical Romance – Thank You For The Venom Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In reply to UrEm0Princess's post (which was like, 5 months ago, but no-one's replied to the poor child) a concept album is an album with a sort of theme. Instead of just a collection of songs, it tells a story or trys to explain a certain subject or something. It may have characters that appear all the way through (like St Jimmy in Greenday's new album). |
Blink-182 – Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I absolutely love this song, it's probably my favourite song on the album. I'm not saying it's the best (but it is one of the best) but it's my favourite because I can completely relate to it. This song really means somthing to me and whenever I listen to it it really makes me think, and although t calms me and relaxes me, it can really bring a tear to my eye. The selftitled Blink 182 album is absolutely fucking amazing! |
