Dukes of Stratosphear – You're a Good Man Albert Brown (Curse You Red Barrel) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Obviously a great parody of Arthur-era Kinks. |
XTC – Senses Working Overtime Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Could there be a link between the line 'And all the world is biscuit/football-shaped' and the line 'And all the world is birthday cake' from The Beatles' It's All Too Much? Hmm.. |
Graham Coxon – Spectacular Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i always figured this was about graham having some fantasy about some lara croft-esque video game character. it pretty much fits with the lyrics and it seems fairly in character, hah. |
Harvey Danger – Flagpole Sitta Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song pretty much seems to be about a guy who's confused about his sexuality. "I had visions, i was in them I was looking into the mirror To see a little bit clearer The rottenness and evil in me" Gayness is pretty much frowned upon and seen (especially by the church) as 'evil'. "Fingertips have memories Mine can't forget the curves of your body And when i feel a bit naughty I run it up the flagpole and see who salutes (but no one ever does)" He has a girlfriend and although he's pretty sure he's attracted to her, he can't.. umm.. arouse himself when he thinks about her. "I'm not sick but i'm not well And i'm so hot cause i'm in hell" He knows there's something wrong with himself, but he can't quite put his finger on it - whether he is actually gay or whether it's him simply being a 'confused teen'. Most of the rest of the song seems to be about him thinking that because of his secret possible gayness he's going to be locked up and is becoming paranoid about the prospect of being found out. "I wanna publish zines And rage against machines I wanna pierce my tongue It doesn't hurt, it feels fine The trivial sublime I'd like to turn off time And kill my mind You kill my mind" This part seems to the singer just desperately wanting to be another average teen and doing all the regular things, instead of worrying about his sexuality and getting super paranoid over it. So yeah.. that's my interpretation! Feel free to correct me.. |
Graham Coxon – Who The Fuck? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I feel a certain shape and it's complicated It's not like a square or a circle It's like crystal or diamond It's clean, hard, unfathomable And it ends in an augmental kiss" the man is a poet. |
Rooney – Stay Away Lyrics | 18 years ago |
after reading all these interpretations, i reckon mine was pretty wrong... the first few lines seemed to be telling a girl to stay away from his friends because they were 'smooth operators' and he was afraid she would be more interested in them than in him, but this doesn't really fit that well with the rest of the song. |
The Littlest Man Band – Always Sayin' Lyrics | 19 years ago |
If anyone actually visits this, umm, is Scott sort of singing this song to himself? |
Reel Big Fish – Drunk Again Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I agree that Scott should *totally* sing more, but even if he doesn't, he has another band that he sings, plays guitar and plays piano for: The Littlest Man Band. Drunk Again is pretty much a LMB song that Scott put on a RBF album to do a bit of shameless plugging :D www.thelittlestmanband.com |
