This song is, to me, the easiest of all the Blood brothers songs to understand, it's so simple. I think phynck AND imbleedingagain got close to it. The narrator has photos of Jennifer in "an uncomprimising position" and doesn't care about the bribes Jennifer is offering, (be it money, favours) he doesn't want anything from her ("this ain't no blackmail") he's just doing it for himself ("this is for amusement") It seems to me like Jennifer really fucked the narrator over and he doesn't care anymore, he just wants some kind of revenge and nothing she can do will stop him from getting that-from "broadcasting" her "shady past" (the negatives-photos of her in an uncomprimising position.) The beginning bit; "her heart throbs....her heart throbs three hundred and 40 beats per minute" Thats her (jennifer) worried, scared of whats going to happen. "those slit throat confessions...licked by my flames..of persuasion.. the shaving of bone......the lingering taste of enamel" This bit is the only bit im not sure about... perhaps "those slit throat confessions" mean she (Jennifer) tried to come clean to the narrator "licked by my flames..of persuasion" he has talked her into confessing all...?? Hmmm. "you dont need a doctor you need a mortician" This bits pretty obvious but i'm having trouble explaining it- like a 'doctor' won't help her now, its over, damage is done, she needs 'a mortician' because theres no going back, he won't change his mind. Everythings finished with and whats going to happen is going to happen... yeah? Fuck, this is THE best Blood Brothers song. I'd argue it to. Can't believe more people haven't commented. |

Apart form the obvious meaning (plastic surgery being an obsession to some people, the ridiculousness of it all) I think this song is also about manipulation. The first half (up to the "Now cover girl.." bit) is about not being in control, mainly because of other people. Also giving up your control to other people... Actually letting yourself be manipulated becauase you don't care anymore. The second half is from the other side of the story... About manipulating someone and taking over for your own benefits (the literal benefits in this song being money, but then again it's the Blood Brothers, so who knows what they actually meant?) Well that was my stab at the hidden meanings... ahhh. |

FFTL are my favourite band, but it does make me giggle the way they are *ALWAYS* ripping the shit outta the *scene* but are firmly positioned right in the centre of it. I agree with the guy above about this song mickeytaking vain peeps etc. You listen to 12 days of xmas, which also rips it outta scene kids, ride the wings has also got to be slightly jokes. It just makes me laugh. No scene kids myspace would be complete without an add from this band. IMHO, they're all laughing at us doods. LOVE IT! |
