The Go! Team – Huddle Formation Lyrics 19 years ago
I just heard the myspace version for the first time. I know some of the samples didn't clear copyright law for international releases of the album (especially in the usa) so that could explain some of the differences...

Could it be about Dante DeCarlo quitting the band and going back to the middle of nowhere?

Porcupine Tree – Prodigal Lyrics 20 years ago
It's about considering suicide.

"This is my blood flow / this is my headstone," is talking about slitting your wrists.

"Close your eyes and let it pass," means letting your life end and being at peace with it.

It's super depressing, but an amazing song.

The Go! Team – Huddle Formation Lyrics 20 years ago
Sorry langdon, I dont know about these lyrics.. I hear:

Ah we see
Oh you gotta see
Go! Get back here
Gimme some time
Cause if you don't I won't
you gotta get back and if
you do I swear I'll give it to you

Standin' on the turf
know you're gonna win
gettin' on the ground
gettin' on the ground again

I got the power
get back and
oh you gotta see
I got the power
get back and
give me some time

I got it here, friend,
I got it there, friend,
I got it got you got it got he got it everywhere

But I'm just guessing, too. The lyrics aren't posted anywhere, even in the album notes. I think it's because this song isn't really about the lyrics. It's about the music, and the chanting cheerleaders, and high energy, and feeling good. The Go! Team is an amazing band, and this is an amazing song.

I think the mystery of the lyrics is part of why I keep coming back to it.

At least we'll all be sure about the "5, 6, 5, 6, 7, 8" part, right?

Barenaked Ladies – The Flag Lyrics 21 years ago
I think the "there goes a-" part is a metaphor for the relationship described in the rest of the song. It's a contrast between freedom and security..

Forest = Dark, scary / Blue Bird = Free
Partridge = Beauty, freedom / GO Train Confining, controlling
Angel = Devine / Steeple = Human
Cop Car = Enforcement / Eagle = Soars Free
and so forth.

.. So pretty much it's a metaphor for the girl's decision whether to leave him.

If you listen to the drums at the end, it sounds like a millitary march. This could represent her victory or something like that- its open to interpretation.
