| Rebecca Black – Friday Lyrics

I think this song is supposed to be a statement on the vapidity of pop music. The lyrics are painfully simple and completely lacking in substance. It's the kind of song you'd teach to preschoolers.
But really, are other pop songs any different? The same themes--love, partying, and loss--are played over and over again. And because the singer is good-looking, or perhaps because the music video is interesting to look at, it sells. The concert halls are packed with screaming teenagers who know each one of these songs by heart, and they're so overcome with hormones and adrenaline that they fail to notice the lack of creativity, of meaning.
This song is simply a picture of what these empty, lifeless ballads really look like. It's brilliant. |

I love this song--the background sounds are really haunting. The humming throughout the song sounds like a lonely train. It's kind of a dreamy, comfortable song. I think of it as sort of a song about looking for something or someone just out of your reach, but finding comfort in the routine of the search. |

I think this song is advising lovers to prepare for the hard times ahead--whether we're talking literal winter or those inevitable points in relationships when the lovey-dovey feeling of being in love wears off. I agree with habitualkick's suggestion that the Gatekeeper is time. Either that, it's the more sensible part of you reminding you that this feeling of "head-over-heels" won't last forever. |

Hahaha, I was such a prude when I first visited this site. I don't have a problem with Chinup's "bukkake" explanation anymore, although I find it unlikely--bukkake didn't start showing up in Japanese pornography until the 1980s. Still, I now agree that John could easily have "stooped that low."
The explanation of each verse referring to one of the Beatles makes sense to me. |

I see this song as about someone who was depressed and in a downward spiral. One day, he woke up and realized he's only been hurting people by shutting himself off and refusing to let anyone in. I think it's a very inspiring song. |

This is a very sad song. It's about a little boy--probably representative of all abused and neglected children--who had no one to love him. Eventually his pain grew so great that his heart stopped. :(
If you listen to the ending, the strings do an amazing job of really driving the point home--you hear these little jots that sound like footsteps, then long, drawn out parts that sound like sighing. They alternate for a bit, and then you hear the footsteps again...and the song is over. |

This song is about a girl who thinks she's cool enough to steal another girl's boyfriend. Whether this was a joke or not, I don't know, but it pisses me off every time I see it. This song sucks in my opinion, although kudos to Avril for the languages. |

This has got to be the saddest song I know. Back in sixth grade, I liked Jewel and listened to her "Pieces of You" CD all the time. Once in math class I couldn't stop thinking about the song, and I broke down and started crying right in front of everyone.
I think one of the saddest things about this song is that it could easily be true. I've read stories about parents who have their child in a vegetative state who refuse to pull the plug because they have faith that he or she will wake up someday. It's just so sad, because you know nothing can be done, and yet they can't let go... |

This makes me think of a man who abuses his wife or girlfriend and taunts her, saying, "You could leave me, but you like me too much. You don't have the nerve." It sounds more arrogant than most of George's songs and that's why I don't really like it. |

I think of this as a story about a priest and a nun, obviously, and they want to help all the lonely people by showing them to God. The lonely people, if they came to church, would not only get in touch with God but with themselves and each other. This sounded so great when I thought it up in my head, but I can't put it in the right words now. :( |

I disagree with Tyler250. It's about a lot more than sex. It's about being in love with someone.
"Nobody ever loved me like she does"
"I'm in love for the first time"
This is about Yoko, a woman John truly loved. Please try to look past the sex part and see the big picture. |

strwberryf1ds, that's gross...but I won't hold it against you. ;)
When I hear this song, I think of two schoolkids, a boy and a girl. They could be in kindergarten or in high school, but the boy is shy and doesn't want to tell the girl he loves her out loud, so he whispers in her ear. He cups his hands around her ear and then just says it very quietly. =^_^= George is so cute! |

Chinup, that's the most disgusting thing I've ever heard. I can almost guarantee it wasn't about that. I honestly don't think even John Lennon would stoop that low, and he actually said the song was about a political campaign, and the "flattop" line was stolen from another song. You have a very dirty mind. |

This was obviously Paul recording a song that just got stuck on the end of "Cry Baby Cry." Whether they did it on purpose or not, I'm not too sure. |

This is a great George song. When I hear it, I think of a little kid waiting for his older friends to come, but it's nearing his bedtime and he can't wait much longer. George was so cute. |

This song is possibly my favorite Beatles song, or one of them. It's so inspirational. Even though I'm not black, I'm a woman, and this song lifts me up whenever I'm feeling down. I read that Paul had three microphones: One for his voice, one for his guitar, and one for his tapping foot. I love that. I also love the blackbird singing at the end. It's a perfect touch. |

This song is brilliant. One of John's best works in my opinion. The music is fabulous, and I think it's great how he made the song out of a circus poster. Later, a similar song was done by the Monkees called "The Poster." I love the Monkees, but I think that song was crap. It was nothing compared to BFTBOMK. |

I think this is a beautiful song. The opening line is my favorite - "Close your eyes and I'll kiss you." It's such a romantic thing to say, especially coming from somebody like Paul McCartney. |
